🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

Breast cancer has touched our office in a very real way — two of our own providers are proud breast cancer survivors. Their strength and resilience inspire us daily and remind us why awareness and early detection matter so much. 💗

Here are a few important facts to know:

✨ 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
✨ Early detection saves lives — monthly self-breast checks and regular mammograms are essential.
✨ Having a family history increases risk, but most women diagnosed have no family history.
✨ Thanks to ongoing research and improved treatments, survival rates continue to rise.

This month, we honor survivors, support those currently fighting, and remember those we have lost. Together, we are stronger. 💕

Today we’re spotlighting one of our amazing physicians who wears many hats — from being a proud Mother of Triplets (aka Mother of Dragons 🐉) to a trailblazer in women’s health. 💪

She was one of the first in the Charlotte market to offer Acessa for Novant, and continues to lead as an educator and advocate for women’s health. 👩‍⚕️💜

When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll find her designing our future practice spaces 🏥 or spending time with her sweet pup Bindi 🐶.

🌸 MIDWIFE MONDAY SPOTLIGHT 🌸

Meet one of our incredible midwives who’s been with our practice since the very beginning! 💜

She became an RN in 2004 at UNC Charlotte, joined Novant in 2007, and earned her Certified Nurse Midwife credentials from ECU (Go Pirates! 🏴‍☠️) in 2010. Since then, she has caught over 900 babies and empowered countless women along the way.

Her passion runs deep—she’s truly devoted to ensuring women feel heard, respected, and empowered during one of the most meaningful moments of their lives. ✨

When she’s not supporting birthing families, you can find her soaking up quality time with her 13-year-old fur-baby Jackson, her significant other, and her friends and family. 🐾❤️

Health and wellness are not just apart of her job—they’re a way of life. You’ll often find her doing yoga or Pilates, exploring new foods, planning her next trip, or diving into the world of music at concerts and festivals.

With a deep appreciation for interpersonal connections, she cherishes time with her daughter and loved ones. Her nurturing spirit runs deep—she’s carrying on the legacy of her great-great grandmother who was also a midwife.

Nearly 2 years into her career, she’s already making a lasting impact—empowering her patients to advocate for themselves, providing compassionate care, and showing up with heart every single day.

Two years ago Dr. Elins became the first physician at Novant Health Huntersville to preform the Acessa procedure for uterine fibroids—a minimally invasive, game changing treatment designed to help women reclaim their health and quality of life!
