đŸ„č I just truly have such a soft spot for homebirths that have the other siblings involved. So many times children are shunned away from life events; so it’s beautiful when they are welcomed into the birth space see their new baby brother or sister arrive! Truly life changing 💛😭 grab your tissues!

Wow. There is something incredible about a mama birthing in her own space; no rushing, no hands all over her, no coercion or manipulation.

Just birth.

♄♄ Just had this conversation in the last three weeks.

This is another myth I hear time and time again: "It is unsafe to VBAC beyond 40 weeks."

Here's the truth: Going beyond 40 weeks gestation is not a contraindication to labor after cesarean.

While some studies have found lower VBAC odds after 40 weeks, I question the role of provider pressure and birthing parent stress on labor, spontaneous or otherwise.

What about the VBAC odds among those who feel supported during the last weeks of their pregnancy rather than facing the deadline of a repeat cesarean on the books?

As ACOG says, "Gestational age greater than 40 weeks along should not preclude [planned VBAC.]" *

There are no hard stops in terms of gestational age due to prior cesarean.

* I replaced "TOLAC" for "planned VBAC" in ACOG's quote.

Keep this in mind when considering your options for a VBA2C.

Keep this in mind when considering your options for a VBA2C.

What is the risk of uterine rupture during a labor after two cesareans?

So often, we hear the risk is 0.9 - 1.8%. But that doesn’t tell the whole picture.

The truth is, those numbers are based on studies in which 49 - 65% of labors were induced or augmented.

As we know, induction and augmentation has been associated with increased uterine rupture rates.

So it’s quite likely that the risk of uterine rupture during a non-induced or augmented labor after two cesareans may be significantly lower.

This is why it’s so important to understand what the research says.

Sometimes vital pieces of information are lost as statistics are simplified and shared.

What have you heard about VBA2C?

We summarize the available evidence on VBA2C here: https://vbacfacts.com/vba2c

If you are a perinatal professional who wants to provide the best VBAC information and support, we offer a continuing education training on VBA2C (approved for 2.4 contact hours) so you can easily integrate the evidence into your practice as well a VBA2C handout for birthing families so you can quickly communicate the facts to your clients.

These are just two of the benefits of joining VBAC FactsÂź professional membership.

Sweetest little girl is earthside for this repeat Agape family. She came later than her siblings but her mom and dad waited. She was born with a nuchal hand and cord. She came at 42.1wks and weighed 7 # 8oz.

This is a must watch! The thing I love most about what she said-
“Unmedicated birth isn’t about being tough. It’s about understanding what’s happening in your body, trusting your body to do it, and training your mind.”

I couldn’t have said it better!

The sweetest little peely toes are earth side for this first time Agape family. She joins an older sister who will be very happy to see her. Her mom and dad worked beautifully together and trusted the process. Surrender was the theme of this birth. A gentle 40.6wk primary VBAC birth at home. Little one weighed 6 # 15oz.
