About six weeks ago, this sweet kitty came to our bathroom window and tapped, lightly, to get my attention. When I peered out the window, he looked like a dead cat standing there. He was severely emaciated and weak. His eyes were sunken and his skeletal form couldn't have been more obvious. We never thought he'd make it, but reason 782 why I love my wife is because she's up for these challenges, no matter how impossible they seem. The kitty had three vet sessions, which included blood work, having a tooth extracted, etc.
Tina and Linda felt this kitty was a brother to the 16 year old barn cat, Sylvester, who is now a hopeless romantic living inside giving cuddles. We refer to the sick kitty as Tiggs, Sylvester's long lost brother.
Tiggs REALLY took to Tina, keeping his eye on her and following her everywhere he could. This morning Tina carried Tiggs out, wrapped in a comfy blanket, for a ride to the vet. Sadly, Tiggs' health took a serious turn for the worse yesterday and we won't let him suffer another day. He'll be laid to rest right here on the hill with everyone else.
Tiggs had the best Hospice care we could give him. Thanks for coming to us and trusting us, Tiggs. You were a cool cat. I'll never forget your deep, almost gutteral trilly meow.
You may think it weird to spend so much energy and money on an animal that potentially won't even make it... I'm ok with that.
It's been an honor Tiggs.
Please know that this is IN NO WAY an invitation to continue to drop off strays. Be a responsible human.
