In this class we look at pain from a biopsychosocial approach. This approach takes into account the biology, the psychological state, and the social situation that a person is in dealing with in addition to the pain that they are experiencing. Different situations can cause different responses in different people. Explore the impact that trauma has on chronic pain. Learn how chronic pain is different from pain caused by injury or over use. Understand the emotional basis for chronic pain and how massage combined with mental health techniques can help people process this pain and find relief. This approach teaches bodywork techniques like somatic tracking, energy work, Reiki, progressive relaxation and Lymphatic Drainage. Discover the benefits of expressive writing. Learn about neuroplastic pain and how the brain can help reduce the amount of pain that your body is feeling even if nothing else in your life is different.
