Acknowledge the losses you're feeling right now. Make sure you have people to talk to and don't emotionally isolate.

It's interesting to read all the posts from friends about their experiences working from home due to COVID-19. Some like the change. Not having to get dressed up, no makeup, don't have to do your hair, can wear PJs. Many more think doing this long term would be draining.

I've been working from home full time for a year and a half. Like many of you, it initially wasn't by choice. I still vacillate between these two perspectives daily. You find while the "commute" is awesome, there is also no physical separation between work and home anymore. No downtime as you use that commute to physically distance yourself and wind down as you transition into the weekend.

For those who are temporarily working from home, I urge you to find activities daily outside the home. Get outside for at least an hour. Otherwise you'll find yourself becoming a slave to the house. On the weekends, plan some kind activity that will connect you with nature or sunshine. Granted our options are limited due to social distancing, but by not taking time away from the house, you literally become enmeshed with the house and possibly have a more difficult time separating yourself from work.

If you can, physically set up one area in your house to be the dedicated office space. Once you're done with work for the day, leave that space and don't return until the next morning. It's easy to keep working past your daytime hours. If your don't have to stay late in your real office, then don't make it a habit in your own home.

Stay in contact with people. Right now, it needs to be virtual, but it's important. Don't get holed up in your house.

I'll be happy to help in any way I can to help with the adjustment... it is an adjustment and after a year and a half, I'm still trying to master it.
