✨ PRPSN takes the 2025 15th Annual LASPN Summit ✨

From opening the day with land acknowledgment, drum, and dance, to engaging in powerful workshops and peer reflections … our team was honored to be part of a gathering that centered healing, culture, and collective action for su***de prevention in Los Angeles. 💜

We left reminded that prevention is possible, hope is alive, and healing is something we build together.
🌿 Reflection for you:
How do you take care of yourself when life feels heavy?

Share with us in the comments😊 your words may inspire someone else today. 💫

Happy Labor Day from our Peer Support Family! 🌟
Today we celebrate the heart of our work...the people. 💙 Each of our staff members bring passion and lived experience and those traits create spaces of hope and healing.

Thank you to our incredible team and all who labor every day to make our communities stronger. ✨

🖤 Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

For many of us with lived experience, overdose is not a distant issue ... it’s personal. It touches our friends, our families, our communities, and sometimes, our own journeys.

This day is about more than remembrance. It’s about action, compassion, and showing up for one another. 💜

✨ Here are a few ways we can show up today:

Hold space for peers to share their stories without stigma

Share harm reduction resources like naloxone and peer support services

Check in on someone who may be struggling

Every small act of awareness creates change. Together, we remind each other: you are not alone, and recovery is possible.

✨ Our peers from our Reentry department, PEERS had the opportunity to come together at CSULA for a Campus and Community Círculo, a powerful space to connect with other justice impacted peers in fellowship and healing.

These gatherings remind us how needed these spaces truly are. They offer community, understanding, and the chance to experience something unique together. ✨

We deeply appreciate the National Compadres Network for creating such a peaceful and safe environment where voices can be heard and peers can find support. 🌱

Today is National Self-Care Day, and we asked our peers: “What does self-care look like for you?” From massages and yoga to deep breathing and journaling, we created a collective vision board of wellness, reminding us that self-care isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.

As Audre Lorde said, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”

In a world that asks us to go, go, go, we choose to pause, breathe, and come back home to ourselves. 💛

🚨 SB 27 expands CARE Court and not in a good way.
It targets people with mood disorders who've ever had psychosis and fast tracks misdemeanor defendants into forced treatment.

As a peer run agency, we know healing happens through choice, not coercion. This would remove autonomy, bypasses consent, and criminalizes mental health.

Earlier this year, we made PRPSN history by hosting our first ever in-person CAPS cohort inside CDCR Chino Hills, activating 8 incredible men on their journey of healing as they train for their Medi-cal Peer Support Certification.

Fast forward to today: three of those graduates have been released and are already applying themselves on the outside. They dropped by our office during open hours, ready to build, reconnect, and keep doing the work they set out to complete.🫂

This is what reentry with purpose looks like. 💪🏾🖤
