At Kassimir Hand Therapy we evaluate and treat conditions and injuries affecting the entire upper extremity - shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand - in a client-centered and personal way. st or diminished ability to perform the activities they love the most. Hand Therapy is a specialty treatment area of Occupational Therapy. If you have a hand or upper extremity problem you deserve to be seen by a specialist. All you need is a prescription from your physician and your road to recovery can begin. KHT was opened by Joanne Kassimir, an occupational therapist and certified hand therapist with 33 years of experience. There are three occupational therapists, all hand rehabilitation specialists, on staff at KHT. They utilize successful treatment modalities and hands-on techniques to treat all diagnoses and conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity. Common diagnoses include: tendon and nerve lacerations, fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, arthritis, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, TFCC tears, burns, amputations, and tennis and golfer's elbow. I have some very exciting news to share with you! As of May 29, 2018, I will begin the next chapter of my career, and will be joining the Professional Physical & Hand Therapy family at their Melville location. All the familiar faces of Kassimir Hand Therapy will be making the move together.

This new relationship will allow us to offer expanded occupational, hand and physical therapy services to you, as well as upgraded technology and enhanced communications.

Another successful ASHT - American Society Of Hand Therapists - annual conference! ALWAYS wonderful to see old and new friends and colleagues, to share ideas about hand and upper extremity evaluation and treatment and catch up on each other's lives. Even though we've been doing this since 1979 There's always something new to share and/or learn - so we can continue to offer our best to all of our patients. Can't wait to get back to NY to share with everyone at KHT!

It's that time again. Spring is here and Both of our therapy aides have been accepted into graduate Occupational Therapy programs. We are so happy for them but Sadly they will be moving on from Kassimir Hand Therapy. So we are once again looking for new part time therapy aides/office assistants. So often I am asked "what's the difference between Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy?" That usually requires a long answer and can be confusing. Maybe this will help you understand that Occupational Therapy is the path to a person's independence and improved quality of life. OT opens doors for patients that they don't even realize are closed. OT makes every day life more meaningful!
