☀️ It's another hot one! ☀️

As the extreme heat warning continues this week, here are some tips to remember to keep you safe:

🫗 Drink plenty of fluids even if you don't feel thirsty.
🏃 Schedule outdoor activities carefully. If you do go outside, wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen. And don't forget to pace yourself!
🛀 Take cool showers or baths to cool down.
🤝 Check on a friend or neighbor and have someone do the same for you.
🐶 Never leave children or pets in cars.
🏠 Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as you can.

Follow the City of Huntington, WV and other local agencies like the Cabell County Public Library on social media for updates on cooling centers in the area.

🥳 Celebrating 250 life-changing procedures! 💚

Congratulations to Dr. Esam Baryun, cardiologist at St. Mary's Regional Heart Institute, for completing the 250th WATCHMAN implant procedure. This significant achievement reflects the skill and dedication of the cardiology team, including Dr. Baryun, Dr. Khalid Abozguia, Dr. Kofi Osei, and Dr. Mark Studeny.

The implant removes the need for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, or AFiB, to continue to take blood thinners, which, after long-term use, increase the risk of internal bleeding, while still preventing blood clots and their risk of stroke.

🌡️The region is under a heat advisory again, and it is important to remember extreme heat can quickly become dangerous. It is important to know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and what to do when symptoms appear.

🚨 Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Call 911 immediately if someone shows signs like red, hot skin with no sweating, a strong pulse, or loss of consciousness.

💧 Stay cool, stay hydrated, and check in on loved ones. Let’s stay safe together this summer. 💚
