We're celebrating 20 years this month! Starlight Behavioral Health first opened its doors in 2006 as an alternative residential option that focused on helping people live their best lives. Today, we serve over 50 individuals with IDD, operate a licensed group home for individuals with IDD and legal problems, and operate a home with individuals with profound hearing loss. As we look forward to another 20 years, we'd like to thank everyone in the community for your continued support throughout the years!

Larry really stepped up during the recent snowstorms and volunteered to pick up fellow DSPs who were unable to drive to work due to the terrible road conditions. He always steps up to help when needed, even when the situation does not involve the individual he is assigned to support. Congratulations, Larry!

We're proud to honor Debbie Kay Pack as Starlight Behavioral Health's January Employee of the Month! Debbie recently celebrated 7 years as a Starlight DSP and American Sign Language Interpreter for our Deaf Home Project. She is described as "the glue that holds the house together." She develops trust with the consumers, which can be difficult for individuals with trauma histories, and is a fierce advocate for those she serves.
Our Deaf Home Project is a home for individuals with profound hearing loss, who communicate entirely by sign language, and is funded by a grant from the WV Departments of Health, Health Facilities, and Human Services. Starlight is fortunate to employ sign-language proficient staff who are sensitive to the unique and complex "deaf culture" -- because the majority of those staff also experience severe hearing loss.
