The West Virginia Counseling Association held its annual fall conference this year at the Stonewall Resort in Ronoake, WV. River Park was excited to be a Silver Sponsor at the conference and provide information and education about the programs and services we provide.

The conference had some amazing presenters this year. Between the beautiful Resort, the location, relaxing atmosphere and all the terrific presenters, it was a must-attend event for so many counselors, therapists and social workers.

We participated in a resource fair held by the Kanawha County Department of Human Services (DOHS). Around 30 agencies set up booths with information and discussed the services their agencies had to offer. The resource fair was a networking opportunity for these agencies to connect with DOHS staff and discuss ways to provide assistance and services for their clients.

We are pleased to announce our new Recruiting Coordinator, Andrew Adkins! He is originally from St. Albans, WV, and comes to us from Marshall University, where he graduated with a degree in healthcare administration. He is currently obtaining his master's in human resources management. Andrew's previous job experience as a human resources assistant has given him the valuable knowledge required to help RPH maintain a strong and reliable workforce by attracting and retaining staff. Andrew will be responsible for posting job openings, assisting with candidate screening, scheduling interviews and attending community hiring events.

When asked about what he hoped to accomplish at RPH, he said, “I hope to help streamline the recruitment process, support department staffing needs and help to create a positive hiring experience for both candidates and hiring managers.” Andrew balances his work and home life with going to the gym and staying physically active. He coaches high school soccer during the week and plays in an adult soccer league on the weekends.

We are glad to have you with us, Andrew!

Kellie Blake, dietitian, hosted a "Boost Your Nutrients" Challenge from July 1 to July 20 focusing on six nutrients our bodies need to function and how to get them from the food we eat. Each day, Kellie challenged the participants to try new fruit and veggies, drink water and attempt new recipes. There were bonus point opportunities and examples of healthy carbs and fat sources to make knowing what to eat easier. The winner of the challenge will be announced the last week of July after all the points are totaled!
