Since OVP FAMILY received licensure in West Virginia, we’ve been busy recruiting new foster parents and providing them with the education and training they need to care for children in their homes.

Leading that effort is our new Foster Parent Licensing Specialist – Autumn Culvyhouse – who is highly skilled and experienced in this important work.

In this week's second volume of our video newsletter "OVP FAMILY UPDATE," Autumn joins OVP FAMILY President Greg Thompson in sharing how OVP FAMILY stands out in supporting families and children.

OVP FAMILY is currently licensed to provide foster care and adoption services in West Virginia, while work continues to secure similar licensure from the states of Kentucky and Ohio.

Teenagers who’ve been removed from the care of their birth families for an extended period of time often haven’t had the same opportunities to experience the milestone moments in life that other teens living with their birth families have enjoyed.

But when you become a foster parent to a teenager, you can often experience those joyful moments with them when you provide them with those opportunities.

West Virginia has the highest rate of children in foster care in the United States, a rate that is four times the national average. As a result, more than 6,000 children in the Mountain State are waiting for a foster family to provide them with a safe, stable, and loving home.
