Funeral Director Friday
What’s the difference between a Funeral, Memorial Service, and Celebration of
Life? These terms are used often without their meanings always being understood.
Funeral Service – A service where the body of the deceased is present. It may include a visitation, variety of different customs and/or other unique details depending on wishes of the family.
Memorial Service – Similar in structure to a Funeral, but the body of the deceased is not present. This can take place days, weeks, or even months after a passing.
Celebration of Life – Very similar to a Memorial Service, but often more casual, focusing on memories and stories of the loved one.
Did you know that different preferred aspects of each can be brought into the other types of services? For example, you can still have a Celebration of Life "feel" at a Funeral Service where your loved one who passed is present. Each option provides a unique way for families and friends to gather, share memories, and honor a life lived.
No matter which you choose, the most important thing is creating a meaningful experience that reflects your loved one. Have questions about the different options available?
