With the ongoing Covid -19 pandemic, we have essentially had to close the office doors. The American Dental Association recommends that we only treat emergency type of dental problems at this time. We are following these recommendations, along with the guidelines from the WV Department of Health and Human Resources and the Governor’s Executive Order No. 16-20, which prohibits “all elective medical procedures”. However, we are still here to assist our patients. In the next couple of days, our office will roll out a new teledentistry module, allowing us to do initial video consults online. Appointments can be made on our website, www.wvperio.com, or can be scheduled by our office by calling 304-525-2630.

I had the opportunity to spend Friday with three of our local dentists at the Zimmer Biomet Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The course focused on fixed removable appliances for those patients who have lost a full arch of teeth, but do not want a removable appliance/denture. The instructor was Geoff Cunningham, a prosthodontist, and a fellow graduate of West Virginia School of Dentistry.

Unfortunately we are losing a team member...Gabby has decided to take a job closer to home. We are going to miss her tremendously, but now we need to find a new hygienist to fill her shoes! Thanks to the Eastern Kentucky Dental Society for the tremendous hospitality extended to the Huntington Dental Society at a recent meeting in Ashland, KY. It was great to get the two groups together. Hopefully we didn't bore you too much with the material we presented!

We have some great news! Our practice just added a cone beam CT machine. This device, along with its dedicated software, make implant treatment planning and surgical placement safe and predictable. I'm amazed by the wealth of information gained by a simple 40 second scan. Thanks to the folks at Henry Schein and Instrumentarium for making this happen!
