The technology of cataract surgery has exploded in my 30+ years of practice. Gone are the days of hour-long procedures, limiting activities afterwards and getting a one-size-fits-all intraocular lens implant. Like many eye surgeons, I'm using a laser light to make incisions and break up the cataract, which adds incredible accuracy and predictability. And lens implants now offer patients the ability to correct their astigmatism (due to an oval-shaped eye), see both far and near without relying on eyeglasses, and even to get customization of vision after the surgery is performed with the new RxSight Light Adjustable Lens. Surgeries now take only 5-10 minutes and are completely painless. The choices add immense fun as a surgeon, and my patients are delighted with the outcomes.

I've previously compared Dexcom's G7 with Abbott's Freestyle Libre 3 Continuous Glucose Meters at https://visivite.com/pages/dr-krawitzs-comparison-of-continuous-glucose-monitors-cgm. But Those devices were intended for Insulin-dependent diabetics. I just inserted Dexcom's new OTC glucose meter, Stelo, designed for people not taking insulin or at risk for low blood sugar. Abbott will be close on their heels with the Lingo, for non-diabetics, and the Libre Rio, for Type II diabetics who don’t take insulin. The Stelo lasts for 15 days rather than the diabetic version which only lasts 10 days, likely due to taking readings every 15 rather than every 5 minutes. Continuous glucose meters measure glucose in the interstitial space, not in the blood itself. Dexcom Abbott https://www.facebook.com/SteloOfficial
