Here at Hickory Creek at Huntington, we have many unique residents. Here are just a few….
Bob used to own Johnson Glass here in Huntington for many many years. Before that, he started working for the original owner of Howard Johnson’s. When Bob was 8 or 9 years old, Howard had Bob doing errands for him. At that same time, he stocked shelves at a locally owned grocery store. At a young age Bob was very ambitious. When Howard and his wife decided they were done with the shop, he asked Bob if he wanted to buy it, which was many years ago. So Bob bought it and kept the name “Johnson Glass Shop” because of the major role Howard Johnson played in his life. Bob did jobs for doctors, judges, and other elite members of society. Bob was even fixing other glass shops mess ups! Bob is very proud of that business that he owned.
Rusty has had an interesting career. When he was younger, he went with his dad a lot in his semi. When he got older, he worked for a local cemetery, did the landscaping and dug graves. Rusty was married, but had no kids.
Julia had a variety of jobs. She was a seamstress, she worked in a faux fur factory and made toilet seat covers. She also wired t.v’s and inspected them. Her religion is very important to her. Her Catholic faith is what has gotten her through the tough times. She was an “army brat”, and lived in many different cities. She is married, and her husband visits multiple times a day, every day!
Shannon has had an interesting life! She traveled with the carnival and was a “carnie” as she says, for a long time. She was also the clerk at the front desk of a hotel, taxi driver, and worked in foundry. She has been married 2 times, divorced and widowed. She does not have any kids, but loves animal, especially cats. Her and her mom used to go to casino’s quite often. That is one of her favorite memories.
This is just a few of our interesting residents here at Hickory Creek at Huntington!
