Dancing Dog Ice Cream in Charleston has a great alternative to using a New England Style lobster roll bun for those of you heathens who prefer grilled over steamed.

These would be classified as "Genteel Dogs," as they are trying very hard to be a cut above the average. We can attest that their chili and slaw are top-notch.

And while we're on the subject, hot dog fans, always remember that making a hot dog on a New England lobster roll bun does not make it an "English Dog." New England isn't the same as England. It's like calling a West Virginia Hot Dog a Virginia Dog. Please stop saying it. It's embarrassing.

Three more out the door 😬 There are places you can buy a cheaper hot dog. There’s a reason ours is a few cents more than some. Ours are larger, all beef, Nathan’s brand and grilled to order. Our slaw is homemade. Our chili sauce is our recipe and homemade. Every bun is butter grilled to order. We know. It’s just a hot dog. But it’s a darn good one!

This is great news for Kanawha Valley hot dog fans who suffer from the lack of decent hot dogs sold on weekends. Super We**ie, heretofore only open for weekday lunch in their downtown Charleston location, now will be serving their 5 We**ie rated hot dogs at the South Charleston Farmers Market on Saturday and Sunday!

Breaking News: 3 WEEKS FROM TODAY!

That's right, hot dog fans, Skeenies Hot Dogs will open again this year for a two-day hot dog sale at the original location 2399 Sissonville Drive, Charleston.

Karen Skeen and her hot dog helpers will be paying tribute to her family's legendary hot dog institution by slinging chili and slaw from 11:00 AM until 7:00PM on both Friday, November 28 and Saturday the 29th.

Lines will be long! Last year they sold over 3,500 hot dogs over two days.

We'll see you there!

Is it a taco or is it a hot dog?

We made a visit to Poca's Valley Cakes and Cafe and found it big on cheer, but painfully lacking when it comes to hot dogs.

West Virginia's Skyline Drive-In...aka, "Hank Williams Last Stop", is a little diner and bar/grill that serves up some excellent hot dogs and cold beer, but is best known locally as the last-ever stop of famous country singer Hank Williams. He died in the back seat of a car parked right outside on New Year’s Day, 1953. You can sit inside the same roadside diner, eat a chili-slaw hot dog, and see Hank’s death certificate and records hanging on the walls. Locals still call it “Hank’s Last Stop", and the diner highlights this as well. It’s just off Route 16 south of town...and makes for an interesting stop whether you come for the history or to grab a chili dog and a cold one.
