Interested in becoming a group fitness instructor or strengthening your coaching skills? Join Katrina Mailloux, owner of BDY Studios, for a 4-hour Group Strength Training Instructor Certification on Saturday, April 18 from 11 AM–3 PM.

This hands-on training will teach you how to confidently design and lead an effective full-body strength training classes using weights, resistance bands, and other resistance-based equipment.Participants will learn the fundamentals of class structure, cueing, music and BPMs, playlisting, motivation and class design techniques, and safe programming to help students build muscular strength and endurance while avoiding overtraining.

With over 40 years of group fitness training under her belt, Katrina will show you how to confidently and successfully design classes to help your clients get strong and healthy. Whether you’re an aspiring instructor or a current coach looking to refine your group strength training skills, this workshop and certification will give you the tools and confidence to lead powerful, engaging group strength classes.

"The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence." - Thich Nhat Hanh

In this workshop, we will explore the art of being fully present with ourselves and with others, especially during times when people need extra care, attention, and support.

Through simple, accessible practices, participants will learn ways to care for their own well-being while offering a steady, compassionate presence to those they support.

Together, we will explore practices that help us ground, settle, and return to the present moment, allowing us to meet ourselves and others with greater steadiness, awareness, and authenticity.

This workshop will include:
- Breath practices to support regulation and awareness
- Gentle movement for self-care and for offering to others
- Restorative postures to invite rest, ease, and balance
- Practices to cultivate presence and compassion
- Practices of deep listening and attuned connection
- Thoughtful use of essential oils to support grounding and relaxation

Integration
For deep integration, we will close with a sound bath immersion and guided meditation, bringing the practices together through sound and awareness, and inviting a felt sense of presence,
compassion, care, and love.

What participants will receive
Participants will leave with simple, practical tools for self-care and for cultivating a calm, compassionate presence when supporting others.

These practices are not separate. As we learn to care for ourselves, we naturally deepen our capacity to be present with others.

Our Story

Brown Dog Yoga is a full service yoga studio located downtown Huntington and Barboursville WV offering a variety of classes for all yoga and wellness enthusiasts. With over 60 classes per week, students may choose yoga, barre, cycling and fusion workouts to suit their needs at both locations. We offer Heated Hatha, Restorative, Vinyasa Flow, Barre, Cycling, Weighted and HIIT workouts and a variety of educational workshops. Interested in becoming a yoga teacher or advancing your yoga training? We offer certificates for RYT-200 and RYT-300 candidates. New students get 2 weeks of yoga, barre, cycling and fusion classes for just $20!
