📵 Swap Screens for Play this School Break! 📵
Too much screen time = less physical activity, interrupted sleep, or even social and attention issues

🎲 Crave competition? Try family game nights or obstacle courses
🧠 Love puzzles or strategy? Bring out blocks, mazes, or marble runs
🌈 Need to chill? Coloring, reading, or gentle outdoor time does the trick
🎭 Into storytelling? Try audiobooks, family photo stories, or puppet shows
😑 Just bored? Give them a spoon to stir, a beanbag to lounge in, or chores to join in on

Physical activity boosts mood, focus, sleep, and long-term health! But we know it’s not always easy to fit in movement. Here’s ways to make it work for your family:

✅ Make it fun. Dancing, biking, playing tag, shooting hoops — if it gets them moving, it counts.
✅ Break it up. Aim for 60 minutes a day, but 10 minutes here and there adds up.
✅ Be active together. Walk after dinner, race to the mailbox, or try a family workout video.
✅ Ditch the all-or-nothing mindset. A little movement is always better than none.
✅ Make screen time active. Try movement-based games or stretch during commercials.
✅ Model it. Kids are more likely to stay active when they see you moving too.

💥 Staying active builds strength, confidence, and lifelong habits. It’s never too late to start.

Biking is a fun way for kids to stay active, but safety is key! Here's how to keep your young riders protected:

🪖 Always Wear a Helmet: Reduces the risk of head injuries by up to 85%. Make sure it fits snugly, covers their forehead, and is replaced after a crash.

🚲 Choose the Right Bike: The bike should allow your child’s feet to touch the ground when seated. Check brakes, reflectors, and gears regularly.

🚦 Teach Road Rules: Ride on the right, use hand signals, and follow traffic rules. Start in safe areas like parks or bike paths.

✨ Be Visible: Bright clothes, reflectors, and bike lights help drivers see your child.

🛑 Practice Safe Riding: Teach starts, stops, and turns in a quiet area before heading to busier paths.

Following these tips can help your little ones can enjoy the freedom of biking while staying safe and sound! 🚴‍♂️❤️

Whether you're hitting the road or hanging out at home, reading is a great way to keep young minds sharp over the summer. 🧠✨

Here’s how to make reading fun and meaningful all season long:
✅ All reading is good reading. Let kids read what they love, whether it’s a graphic novel, fiction, magazine, or comic book.
✅ Pack books for trips. They’re screen and battery-free, perfect for planes, cars, or quiet moments.
✅ Print books help kids focus better. Research shows they understand and remember more from paper than from screens.
✅ Read together, even older kids can benefit!
✅ Visit the library. It’s full of free fun, fresh reads, and great summer programs.
✅ Just 20 minutes a day helps prevent the "summer slide".

Excessive screen time can strain your child’s eyes and disrupt sleep. Encourage breaks, especially after long sessions, and remind them to look away from screens regularly to give their eyes a rest.

🎨 Balance Screen Use with Creativity and Learning:
Use screens as tools for creativity, not just entertainment! Encourage activities like digital art, coding, or learning new skills through educational apps.

🗨️ Make It a Shared Experience:
Watching or playing together turns screen time into bonding time. Talk about what you’re seeing and encourage kids to think critically about content they consume.

Set Boundaries for Balance:
📱 Designate screen-free zones like bedrooms or family meal areas.
🌳 Encourage outdoor play and face-to-face interactions to help kids build strong connections in the real world.

📺 Create Healthy Habits at Every Age:
For infants: Avoid screens, except for video calls.
For school-age kids: Balance screens with sleep, physical activity, and homework.
For teens: Promote self-awareness about their screen use and encourage meaningful online interactions.

🍽️ What’s REALLY in Your Kid’s Breakfast? 🧠✨
Breakfast is key for learning, focus & energy. But not all breakfasts are created equal!

A recent study found that many new kids' cereals (2010–2023):
❗ Have 30% MORE fat & salt
❗ Have 11% MORE sugar (some >45% of a kid's daily limit!)
❗ Have LESS protein & fiber
➡️ Translation: LESS nutrition, MORE empty calories.

✅ What You Can Do:
🔍 Check labels – Look for lower sugar options with more fiber and protein
🥣 Build a Better Breakfast:
🥯 Whole grains (like oatmeal or whole-grain toast)
🍳 Protein (eggs, nut butter, yogurt)
🍓 Fruits or veggies
🥛 Low-fat milk or calcium-rich alternatives

📋 Quick Tips for Parents:
• Read nutrition labels—watch sugar, salt & fat
• Pick cereals with high fiber & protein
• Add fruit or yogurt to boost nutrition
• Sit and eat together when possible—it builds healthy habits!

Even on busy mornings, a good breakfast sets your child up for a great day! ✨

As the weather warms up, ticks are more active and they can be tiny! 🐜 If you find one attached to you or your child, don’t panic. Follow these steps to remove it safely and effectively:

✔️ Use fine-tipped tweezers to grab the tick as close to the skin as possible.
✔️ Pull the tick away steadily—don’t twist or jerk.
✔️ Place the tick in a sealed container and dispose either down the toilet or in alcohol.
✔️ Clean the bite area with soap and water or rubbing alcohol after removal.

If the tick has been attached for 2+ days or you’re unsure how long it’s been there, bring it (and your child) to us for evaluation and testing. 🩺💡

Stay safe and check for ticks after spending time outdoors! 🌳💚
