Reger Funeral Home & Cremation Services

Reger Funeral Home & Cremation Services Reger Funeral Home and Cremation Services The Reger Funeral Home was founded in 1903 in Martins Ferry, Ohio by Henry Reger (1881-1968). Henry’s son, James H.

During his years as a funeral director, he was also the coroner of Belmont Counts, Ohio. After serving the people of Martins Ferry for 10 years he decided to move to Spencer, West Virginia where he practiced as a licensed funeral director. In 1924 the decision was made to come to Huntington, West Virginia where Henry established the Reger Funeral Home on Jefferson Avenue. Two years later, a move was made to the current location of Adams Avenue. Reger (1903-1986) became licensed a year after the move to Adams Avenue, in 1927. Thus, James became the second generation of Reger’s to serve the people of Huntington. The two quickly established ties to the community and continued to improve the funeral home. In 1948 the Reger’s decided to build a 250 seat chapel that still stands today, improving the quality of service offered to their families. The third generation of funeral directors was established when George E. Reger (1932-1999) attained his funeral directing license in 1957. George served as the President of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association in 1986 and was named “Funeral Director of the Year” by the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association in 1995. In 1987 the fourth generation of Reger’s began when Patrick J. Reger became licensed. Patrick followed in his father George’s footsteps by serving as the president of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association in 1996. Starting in 1999 George Michael Reger became a licensed funeral director and joins his brother Patrick on the staff of the Reger Funeral Home. The Reger’s have always enjoyed serving the community in many different ways. Beginning with Henry and continuing down the line of succession they have donated vehicles to the local emergency services and police department. Their community involvement continued in 1998 when the members of the funeral home dedicated a memorial park for veterans, which is located adjacent to the funeral home. Throughout the intervening years, we have made many improvements to the park, in honor of our community's veterans. The oldest family owned and operated funeral home in the Tri-State area, The Reger family still own and operate the funeral home for over four generations.

Larry Parker Adkins, II

Larry “Little Larry” Adkins, 61, of Huntington, born on January 31, 1965, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16th, surrounded by love.

Larry lived in the home he cherished in Huntington, where he proudly served as the neighborhood “watch,” spending countless hours sitting in his swivel chair or standing at the screen door, watching the world go by. It was one of his favorite ways to feel connected to the people and life around him.

Though Larry was nonverbal and faced significant challenges, he had a heart full of love and kindness. He expressed joy through his smiles, laughter, and gentle presence. Many things could make him happy, but nothing meant more to him than the people who cared for him every day and loved him so faithfully.

Larry especially loved going for car rides, drinking Pepsi, and enjoying rides at fairs and amusement parks. These simple pleasures brought him great joy and are memories that will forever be etched in memory.

More than anything, Larry’s life was a reminder that every person matters. He mattered. He was kind. He loved deeply and with his whole heart. Through his life, he taught those around him patience, compassion, and unconditional love.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Larry and Rita. He is survived by his brother, Norman (Heba) of Sandy Springs, Georgia; his sister, Teresa (Clint) of Huntington, West Virginia; his sister, Ashley (Jody) of Huntington, West Virginia; and his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, who loved him dearly.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Seth, Larry’s devoted caregiver and best friend, whose love, patience, and companionship meant more to Larry than words could express. Deep appreciation is also extended to Amanda and Kaley for their compassionate care and unwavering dedication.

Larry was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and family member whose presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington, by Pastor Tim Porter. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, WV. Friends may call from noon until service time on Friday at the funeral home.

He will always be loved, never forgotten, and carried in the hearts of those who knew him.

Casey Nicole Wilson

Casey Nicole Wilson (Rowland)

Casey Nicole Wilson of Proctorville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15th, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Casey was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, to Thomas Rowland and Norma Blair Rowland of Poca, West Virginia. She was a lifelong and devoted fan of the University of Kentucky basketball and proudly “bled blue.” Casey found joy in life’s simple pleasures—Disney, shopping, traveling to new places, visiting Amish Country, and enjoying her favorite snacks. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with the people she loved.

Casey is survived by her best friend and loving husband of fifteen years, David Wilson of Proctorville, Ohio. Casey made a positive impact on David's children, Taelor Harshbarger (Jacob) and Justin Wilson, through her love and encouragement. Casey was “Gigi” to Taelor's (Jacob) children, Mina, Maeven, and Marcella.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandparents, Dimple “Gran” and Isaac “Pop” Rowland of Meally, Kentucky, and Betty Blair of Paintsville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Leon Blair. Casey deeply loved her pets—her cats Annie, Jack, and Grayson, and her loyal dog, Ollie—who were constant companions.

In 2020, Casey received the gift of life through a kidney transplant from her coworker and dear friend, Veronica Fickett. Her family will forever be grateful for Veronica’s extraordinary act of love and sacrifice.

Casey had the brightest smile and a warmth that made everyone feel welcome. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. She believed deeply in others, always offering encouragement and second chances. She was a steady source of strength, compassion, and love to her family, friends, and coworkers.

For 23 years, Casey dedicated her professional life to Choice Care At Home, where she served as Program Director of the Huntington office. She was a compassionate leader with an open door and an open heart, always willing to listen and help others grow. Her work was more than a career—it was her calling.

Casey was a graduate of Marshall University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She was also a faithful and active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Barboursville, West Virginia.

Casey will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, her strength, and the love she gave so freely. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Hannah Diane Whitt

Hannah Diane Whitt, 25, of Chesapeake, OH took the hand of Jesus on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Hannah was born on March 19, 2000, in Huntington WV, to Angela Whitfield and the late Wade Whitt. She meant so much to so many, a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wade Whitt, cousin Kris Mazurik, great-grandma and great-grandpa Ramey, and boyfriend Riley Dunlap.

She is survived by her mother Angie Whitfield, stepfather Joe Whitfield, sister Katelyn Cox, brothers Joseph (Alesha), Stephen (Jenna), and Shane (Julia), and many other family members including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her family, Hannah was blessed to have a special GOD-sent sister, Stevee Williams. It was a rare occasion to see Hannah and no Stevee. Also, she had precious lifelong friendships with Kate Auvil, Breanna Maynard, Laykin Hurt, and Maddie Smith.

Hannah lived a life of service to others, working as a caregiver for many years. She also loved music and aspired to become a music therapist to help others in their time of need. She began many tales with “you remember that one time at band camp?” or “mom, do you remember that girl I cheered with?” Her favorite subject in school was band, and she loved playing the clarinet and saxophone.

When she was little, a good portion of her time was spent with her babydoll, Cackoo and her imaginary friend (Lillian) who got the blame for things that Hannah did. She also loved riding four wheelers, and playing in the creek beds with cousins, and singing passionately for everyone to hear.

Hannah was an animal lover and children gravitated to her. She was a proud aunt of Sylus Wade, McKenna Jo, Maesyn, Cole, Tobey, and Lexi. She would often tell stories of the time they spent together and all the adorable stories they told her. They made many memories together baking cookies, going on trips, goofing off, and building with Legos. They will forever be her babies. Hannah also loved her cat Janie and her dog Holly Bolly.

Her smile and laugh were contagious, and she gave them freely to anyone that was blessed to know her. She was very family oriented and loved to travel. Whether going to the beaches or the mountains, she would gladly sing Country Roads to anyone who would listen. She was pure SUNSHINE to her mommy from the day she was born and always will be.

She was an accomplished young woman, with her best achievement being a child of God. She was a 2018 graduate of Spring Valley High School and took pride in being the baby of the family.

Hannah began growing in her faith at a young age, singing in church and going on mission trips with Christ Temple Church and Crosspoint Community Youth Group. She was always quick to help others, even strangers.

Hannah had a huge family. Her mom and stepdad meant the world to her, often making her dinner, teaching her to fish, and playing piano while she sang. Joe was always ready to do anything to help her, and she knew she could always count on them for comfort and support. Her big sister, Katie, was her best friend and her biggest fan. She spent many nights at Mamaw and Papaw Napier’s house having her favorite dinner, chicken and dumplings, or visiting Mamaw and Papaw Mayo to talk about things happening in their lives.

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” – Thomas Campbell
