✨What to Expect at a Skin Exam✨
Skin checks are quick, simple — and can truly save lives. Here’s what happens at your visit:
We review your history - Personal & family history of skin cancer, tanning exposure, changing spots, or areas of concern.

✨Full-body exam - We examine your skin from head to toe (yes, scalp included). You’ll change into a gown, and we keep you appropriately draped for comfort.
We check moles & other lesions closely - Using a dermatoscope, we evaluate any concerning lesions for asymmetry, border changes, color variation, or growth.
✨Biopsy if needed - if something looks suspicious, we may numb the area and take a small sample. It’s quick and typically very well tolerated.
✨Prevention guidance - We review sunscreen habits, self-skin exams, and how often you should return.
Most exams take about 15–20 minutes. Annual skin checks are recommended for most adults — sooner if you notice a changing spot.

If you’ve been putting it off, consider this your reminder Your skin is worth it.💛✨

Call now to book your skin exam!✨

Ever wonder what that small device Mrs.Jackson uses is?
🔬
That device is a specialized handheld magnifier called a ✨dermatoscope!!✨
This tool magnifies the skin 10 times larger than what you can see with the naked eye. A dermatoscope uses polarization, which decreases scattered and reflected light. This, essentially, acts as a filter, allowing your doctor to see past the surface of your skin and into the two layers called the epidermis and dermis. Before your physician uses the dermatoscope, they’ll generally first give your skin a thorough head-to-toe visual inspection.

Today is Melanoma Monday, the first Monday in May, and an annual reminder that skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., and also one of the most preventable.

Melanoma specifically accounts for the majority of skin cancer deaths, but when caught early, the survival rate is high. That's why awareness and early detection matter.

A few things worth knowing:
✔️SPF every day. Even in May.
✔️Know what's on your skin and notice when something changes
✔️Annual skin checks with a dermatologist are worth scheduling

This month, we're focused on skin health in all forms. Awareness is where it starts.✨🖤
