πŸ“Έ New Academic Year, New Beginnings in Surgery Residency! πŸŽ‰

Our amazing photographer captured a moment this week that we’ve all been eagerly anticipatingβ€”the annual new academic year group photo!

In this snapshot:

🌟 Our new chief residents, stepping confidently into leadership roles.

πŸŽ“ Our rising surgical residents, marking another training milestone.

🩺 And our fresh-faced interns, ready to begin their surgical journey.

We're filled with pride watching this team come together: residents who’ve worked tirelessly, supporters who’ve cheered them on, and mentors who are guiding them forward.

Welcome to Our New Surgery Interns! πŸŽ‰πŸ©Ί

After two packed weeks of orientation, our incredible new interns are officially in their first week on serviceβ€”and already making us proud.

To kick things off, our chief residents hosted a pool party and picnic last weekend to welcome them to the team. πŸŒžπŸ’¦πŸŒ It was the perfect way to celebrate the start of this exciting journey.

Drs. Ratliff, Wagner, Meyer, Yokota, Edah & Vijay, and Keefer (not pictured): We're so glad you're here and part of our Marshall Surgery family. You’ve got this, and we've got you! πŸŒŸπŸ©ΊπŸ’š

Celebrating 3 Years with our Program Administrator! πŸ‘‘πŸ–₯πŸ’Œ

This month marks three years since Missy Morrison joined our General Surgery Residency team as Program Administrator. With eight years of experience as the Program Administrator in Psychiatry and a year of mission work serving the unsheltered community in Huntington, Missy brought a fresh perspective and a strong sense of purpose to our program.

Since then, she has launched wellness initiatives, streamlined key processes, earned her TAGME recertification, attended the ACGME and ABS conferences, and served as an EPA Champion β€” all while managing the day-to-day operations of a busy surgical residency.

As Missy puts it: β€œWhen I do my job well, my residents’ wellness and workdays are better. It's my hope that the care, consistency, and heart I pour into my work make a difference for our team and the families they serve.” πŸ’š
