How does this apply to the childbearing year mamas? 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

We were assured in this life we would have trials and tribulations, physical discomfort and mindset hurdles to overcome…

Why then when it comes to fulfilling Abba’s first and perfect command to us to fill the earth and subdue it… why then when it comes to childbearing have we taken the bait of the enemy to trade in the refining process of childbirth for mind & body numbing drugs to “take the pain away”…?

At what cost have we sold ourselves out in the name of technology and pharmaceuticals to worship the idols of science & the maternity system so we don’t have to *feel* and be *fully present* in the beautiful experience of bringing forth life into the earth?

Imagine the confidence and trust you will build up in yourself and in your relationship with Abba Father to truly surrender to His plan and design of birth undisturbed and trust Him to be your strength?

How would this set you up for confidence in your Motherhood? How would this set you up to know your intuition and discernment are aligned with His will for you and your children?

There is no formula in this world to make suffering, injustice, evil, difficulty, and the consequences of living with immature and unloving people disappear. We all have unanswered questions like “Why did this terrible thing happen?”
So how do we move through the unanswerable, overwhelming darkness and pain common to all in life? How do we accept our own failures and learn to heal and move on?
We usually look for quick fixes, and often, instead of waiting for God’s answer or God’s source of relief, we try in our own efforts to shorten the process by taking matters into our own hands.
Sometimes we mess things up even further. We certainly do not want to stay in the middle of the storms of life and wait for them to be over. And yet, often, that is just what we have to do—wait them out.
There is character built, humility learned, compassion developed, and sympathy kindled through the stormy parts of life. In order to bring light and truth into a dark world as a follower of Christ, we must face the harsh realities of disappointment, despair, and difficulties in the real world with courage, faith, wisdom, and light given by Him and learned through the circumstances of our own lives.

so what do you think?

“Trust your body; trust birth”

OR

“Trust Your Creator, Respect Birth”

Let’s discuss! 👇🏼

You don't need to do anything to make birth "work" because it's a physiological process designed intentionally by a brilliant Creator to complete itself without external assistance.

I tend to have a pretty high degree of trust in that. (Case in point)
My friend and podcast co-host Lauren always says, "I trust God, and I respect birth."

And when she says that I'm reminded that though birth is a pretty trustworthy process (like digestion and breathing), that's not the ultimate source of our trust. That's putting things out of order, isn't it?

Our trust is in the God who made us and made birth and by whose very word all of creation lives and moves and has its being.

There are, I think, two ditches we can fall into when it comes to preparing for childbirth:

1. Radical trust which translates into closing our eyes and disengaging from taking personal responsibility for our own role in preparation for birth.

2. Hypervigilant, obsessive grasping for control over the process through excessive preparation and attempted micromanagement of what is ultimately a mysterious and inherently unpredictable event.

Do you recognize yourself tending to slip into one ditch or the other, or perhaps to vacillate between the two? 🙋🏻‍♀️
Yeah, me too.

There's no shame in that. I think that our awareness of our tendencies coupled with a posture of repentance can keep bringing us back again and again to the middle way of rightly ordered trust in God first, birth second. And that's the best that we can do.

It is a spiritual practice, one of which pregnancy and birth are abundantly ripe with. There are so many invitations to spiritual practice inside our childbearing journeys.

This perspective is the foundation on which all my courses are built, just as it's the perspective I will continually point every mama I work with back to, over and over again.

In a few days, I'll be launching a flash sale on my entire course library (sisterbirth.com/journey-courses), something that I do only once a year. Keep an eye on your emails and my social media channels for more info so you can take advantage of that, ok?

In the meantime, I hope you'll take a minute today to sit with Jesus, your Great Midwife, and invite Him to bring you back up out of any "ditches" you're prone to slipping into in your birth preparation process and let him gently lead you down his middle way.

With love,
Brooke

This is ONE example of those amazing little gems 💎 of wisdom 💎 that you gain when you choose to empower yourself along your journey in Motherhood with a little education. 🌿

Sometimes I forget all the beautiful little bits of knowledge I didn’t know until I knew… seeing the response to this post helps me realize just how much I have to offer you all and the women I serve.

My biological feeding support is a comprehensive 2-1 class 💕I love couples to attend together 💕

The 💲1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ serv1ce also comes with a breastfeeding guide handbook,PLUS a home 🏡 visit at 3-4 days postpartum AND a virtual check in at 3 weeks!!

You don’t know what you don’t know until you do!

Can you guess what the #1 factor is In determining a mothers success in her journey breastfeeding?

“When a baby suckles at its mother's breast, a vacuum is created. Within that vacuum, the infant's saliva is sucked back into the mother's ni**le, where receptors in her mammary gland read its signals. This "baby spit backwash," as she delightfully describes it, contains information about the baby's immune status. Everything scientists know about physiology indicates that baby spit backwash is one of the ways that breast milk adjusts its immunological composition. If the mammary gland receptors detect the presence of pathogens, they compel the mother's body to produce antibodies to fight it, and those antibodies travel through breast milk back into the baby's body, where they target the infection.”

I love this challenging thought!!

I think it’s so true. I’ve been unpacking this very thing lately as I’ve been studying the history of midwifery and the transition of birth going from home to hospital.

💯 agree

We need to repent of our idolatry towards doctors, modern science and technology and praise God for the perfection of His creation in our physiology and for welcoming us as women to co-labor with Him in the process of creating the next generation for all of human history (and on into the future).

The very first birth was a freebirth.
That's not to say everyone should freebirth.
But more women should consider homebirth instead of writing it off.

We have normalised hospital birth rather than creating the structure to keep homebirth safe.

To make a truly informed decision, you need to be well educated.

Let's talk about it! What do you think?

Pain free labor is a beautiful aspect to many women's birth stories. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to be in yours.

It seems to be that many think hiring a doula is going to solve any problem or extinguish any hurdle for them during pregnancy or birth…(or even choosing a midwife or going unassisted!)

Many think hiring a doula means she’s going to show up when you’re in labor and dilated to a 6 cms and wave a magic wand to take all your pain away and then she flys off to the next birth when your baby is safely nuzzled in your arms…

But doulas (and midwives!) aren’t magical birth fairies that take all the pain, problems and hard away. Bummer. That would be cool though!

I won’t rattle off a bunch of stats and research data but it is true that working with a doula and having her present at the birth does lower poor outcomes, fear & pain as well as improve the mothers overall satisfaction of her birth experience.

As a doula I educate, equip and inspire my clients to harness their own power, confidence and voice to totally own their birth experience and rock it. 💪🏼

Plain and simple. I help women achieve an undisturbed physiological birth and powerful postpartum.

It takes a Mama who is ready and willing to commit to doing the hard work of heart work. It takes a woman who is ready to not hold back and to face whatever comes up in her pregnancy so she can truly own her birth and embrace her new role in motherhood with joy, confidence and peace. 🙌🏼
