Disability Resource Network held a discussion on workplace accommodations, interview skills, resume writing, and workplace etiquette for National Disability Employment Awareness Month at Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind for a Roundtable led by Information and Referral Specialist, Rodney Jones, and facilitated by Public Health Intern Taylor Wilson. This discussion was engaging and informative for the attendees.

Disability Resource Network is proud to be apart of the UAH College of Nursing second annual Symposium for Health Innovation and Neighborhood Engagement! Our Executive Director attended on behalf of our organization. She will be serving on the UAH College of Nursing Neighborhood Nursing Advisory Board! We are so thrilled to have our leader presented this amazing opportunity to represent Independent Living and people with disabilities.

Disability Resource Network Information & Referral Specialist, Rodney Jones & Executive Director , Davina Patterson attended the Beads & Bingo Fundraiser in support of The Horizons School: Birmingham, Alabama! The Horizons School is a transitionary school that helps young adults (ages 18-26) with learning disabilities prepare for and transition into an independent adulthood! We are so excited to support such a great cause!

In honor of World Mental Health Day, Disability Resource Network hosted a Mental Health Roundtable with local Therapist, Counselors, and Social Workers to discuss barriers, stigmas, and solutions for mental health. Public Health Intern, Taylor Wilson, led a great discussion with our attendees.

We are thankful to receive a grant from the Megan Montgomery Foundation Looking forward to bringing this awesome training to the community.

From classrooms to community programs across Alabama, our newest grantees are putting healthy relationship education into action. These grants provide educators with the tools to equip students with the knowledge and skills to recognize warning signs, set & respect boundaries, and make safe & respectful choices, helping to prevent relationship violence before it ever begins.
