As physical therapists, we preach active lifestyles! But even with that said, injuries can happen. While playing flag football, Dr. Logan Kish, PT, DPT, tore his ACL and meniscus. MRI, doctor visits, and a repair surgery later, he's now a few weeks post-op and reflecting on his experience.

His biggest takeaway? The importance of early e-stim and ice. These helped jump-start his recovery, managing swelling and getting his quad muscles firing again. This early intervention lays the foundation for successful active exercises down the line, which are crucial for regaining strength and range of motion.

Great news, Alabama! You can now see a physical therapist directly without needing a doctor’s referral. That’s right, the state of Alabama now allows direct access to physical therapy!

Spring is definitely here and it's the perfect time to get active, but remember these essential tips from NesinFIT:

Tip 1: Plan Your Warm-Up!
-Take time to stretch and warm-up before any activity. ‍
-Increases blood flow and heart rate to prepare your body. 🫀
-Mentally prepare for what you're about to do!

Tip 2: Stay Hydrated!
-Dehydration increases with rising temperatures. ☀️
-Drink 8 ounces of water 8 times a day.
-Aim for 4 ounces every 15 minutes during exercise. ‍

Tip 3: Rest and Recover!
-Schedule rest days between workouts and activities.
-Avoid overexertion to prevent recurrent injuries, slow healing, and fatigue.
