AJOG Expert Review in Labor: A critical evaluation of the external and internal maneuvers for resolution of shoulder dystocia - All-fours position and knee-chest position
A, All-fours position (knee-hands position). The mother is supported by her hands and knees. The hips are semiflexed. The spine is horizontal. B, Knee-chest position. The mother is supported by her forearms and knees. Hence, the hips are more flexed to simulate a reverse McRoberts maneuver. The spine is downward toward the head. https://ow.ly/EJis50Rm3gE American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists - ACOG Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine American College of Nurse-Midwives Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists RCOG

Welcome, Elliot James đź’›
Born via planned cesarean on July 11 at Madison Hospital

Elizabeth and Nick’s story is one of peace, grace, and trust. When their baby stayed breech, they moved forward with a cesarean birth with such confidence and calm—it was genuinely beautiful to witness.

From the very beginning, they welcomed me into their experience with warmth and openness. There was no panic, no second-guessing—just thoughtful questions, steady preparation, and deep love for their baby and each other.

In the OR, I got to capture the very moment Elliot entered the world, and in recovery I watched them transition into parenthood with so much tenderness and strength. By the time we met again for their postpartum visit, I was floored by how smoothly they were adjusting. Elizabeth was up and moving with incredible resilience, and the support from their family gave them the strong foundation every new parent deserves.

Birth doesn’t always go according to plan—but Elizabeth and Nick reminded me that peace isn’t about control. It’s about embracing the path with open hands and full hearts. 💛

I was listening to a podcast today and something they said made me stop in my tracks.

When you go to a doctor or a surgeon, you usually just… go.
You take whoever they assign you. You don’t interview them or ask about their vibe.
You hope for kindness, but you don’t expect a relationship.

But when you’re choosing a doula or a midwife?
You want to sit down and talk.
You want to know if it feels right.
If this person really sees you.
If you can breathe a little easier in their presence.

Because doula work isn’t just about showing up with knowledge or tools —
it’s about relationship.
It’s about trust.
It’s about being known and supported in one of the rawest, most powerful moments of your life.

This work isn’t transactional — it’s deeply human.
And that first meeting? It’s not a formality.
It’s the beginning of something sacred.

Being invited into someone’s birth story is always an honor—but some stories carry an extra layer of meaning. This one is so dear to me. Lauren is my very first mentee, and watching her step into motherhood with such strength and grace was a full-circle moment. She will be an incredible doula—wise, grounded, and deeply compassionate—and it all began right here, with the birth of her own baby 🌸👶

So excited for what we see in the years to come!!!

What are the odds?

The day I announced our doula mentorship journey, Lauren and I found ourselves walking into our first birth together—side by side, stepping quietly into sacred space, as she shadowed me through a powerful and beautiful labor. 🕊️

It felt full circle. Aligned. Like the next right step. ✨

Lauren observed with deep presence and care—watching not just what I did, but how I moved, how I listened, how I held space. And that’s the part of doula work that can’t be taught in training manuals or Zoom calls.

This is the good stuff.
The passing down.
The quiet watching.
The deep breath before entering the room.
The “you’re safe here” energy that fills the space before a word is even spoken. 🤍

It’s a gift to welcome her into this world of work I love so much—and to do it in such a tender, real-time way.

Big, exciting (and honestly a little emotional) news:

Imagine Birth Doula is growing—and I’m finally ready to share that I’ve been mentoring a new doula behind the scenes.

This isn’t just “adding someone to the team.” This is me pouring everything I’ve learned into a woman I deeply believe in—someone who has shown up with humility, hunger to grow, and a heart that mirrors the values Imagine Birth was built on.

You’ll start seeing her at births with me, learning, listening, and supporting. And in time, she’ll begin taking her own clients under the Imagine Birth umbrella.

The photo you see here is her—on the brink of something beautiful. I’m so proud of the growth I’ve already witnessed in her and honored to be part of her journey.

I’ll be sharing more soon about her path into birth work and what this means for the families we serve, but for now: this is a beginning. A beginning I’ve prayed and planned for—where more families can be supported with the same kind of care I’ve always promised, just with more hands and more heart to go around.

Thank you for trusting me and for cheering us both on. ✨

✨ The Story of Scarlett’s Birth — A Twin Tale ✨

Saturday morning, Scarlett texted me thinking her water might’ve broken—no contractions yet, just some fluid and a full baby shower ahead. She was calm. Excited. Trusting her body and her care team.

Throughout the day, she sent me photos, asked thoughtful questions, and kept enjoying her celebration. By evening, the pressure was picking up. Around 9:45 PM, they made their way to Huntsville Hospital.

An hour later, I got the call:
She was 10 cm in triage.
Yes—ten.

I was out the door in seconds and arrived at 11:19 PM. By midnight, she was pushing. At 12:17 AM, baby A, Hudson Randall, made his entrance at 3.4 lbs with pink skin and a strong cry.

Then came the waiting. Baby B’s water was still intact and he was laying across her belly, not head-down. Dr. Robinson calmly and skillfully worked to help him turn. After some time and patience, he was finally in position—but still high.

We waited. We moved. We repositioned.
And through it all, Scarlett remained grounded, focused, and incredibly strong.

At 6:07 AM, after just six minutes of powerful pushing, baby B, Weston Austin, was born at 3.7 lbs. His cord was cut immediately and both boys were brought to the NICU for care and monitoring.

Scarlett did all of this unmedicated—two labors, two babies, one after another, with grace, instinct, and fierce determination.

Scarlett, your strength was something I’ll never forget. It was an honor to witness you bring your boys into the world with such presence and trust in your body.

Happy birthday, Hudson and Weston 🤍
Your mama is pure magic.

Redemption in every breath. ✨

Erica’s first birth left her physically and emotionally torn—literally. Difficult memories and layers of silent grief she never named as trauma. But this time… this time, her story turned.

In the early hours of Memorial Day, she labored at home with confidence, trusting the rhythm of her body. By the time we were all together at the hospital, she was already 5.5 cm—steady, calm, ready.

From the moment she surrendered to her body’s urge to push without force, we could feel it: this was going to be different. And it was. Just over an hour later, Erica birthed her 9 lb. 12 oz. baby girl into her own arms. No medication. No fear. Just strength, intuition, and a fierce kind of peace.

Welcome, Lillie Elliott. Born in power at 2:14am.
Born into redemption. đź’«

Can you EVEN imagine the way this could change your newborn period??? Imagine not having to leave home the day after you come home from the hospital to go to a ped visit? Imagine having all the well visits at home so that you avoid other sick patients? I’m just so excited for this option.

Eva Family Health Clinic is wanting to reintroduce in home visits back into our practice model!!

As most of you know, insurance does not pay for these visits so they will be out of pocket.

The plan at this time is to set a designated day for certain areas. For example, if we pick a certain day to cover Madison and surrounding counties I will have a certain amount of appointments available for that day and they will be first come first serve.

I would like to get a feeler for the families who would be interested in this service and the areas of interest!

Base prices would be as followed:
Adults:
- New Adult: Annual Well Visit $150
- New Adult: Sick or Problem Focused Visit $175
- Established Adult: Well Visit / Refills $135
- Established Adult: Sick Visit $135
Pediatrics:
- New Pediatric Well Visit $140
- Alabama Newborn Screening heel
Stick (will be added on to all new babies under 1 month of age) $15
- Established Pediatric Well Visit $130
- Established Pediatric sick visit $130

Mileage:
- Mileage will be calculated round trip at $0.50/mile from the clinic address to your home.

Payment:
- Multiple payment options will be available based on your families needs. If you have interest in a home visit we would be more than happy to calculate the exact cost and payment options available.

BREAKING: What does it take to win an ultramarathon? For Stephanie Case, it meant covering 100 kilometers over brutal terrain while stopping three times to breastfeed her 6-month-old daughter.

Yes, you read that right.

At the Ultra-Trail Snowdonia in Wales, Case wasn’t aiming for a podium. After a three-year break from competition, she just wanted to feel like an athlete again. Instead, she crossed the finish line as the first female finisher, clocking 16 hours and 53 minutes on a course with over 6,500 meters of elevation gain.

Her journey to this race wasn’t just physical it was deeply emotional.

After two miscarriages and the birth of her daughter Pepper through IVF, Case wasn’t sure if she could ever call herself an athlete again. She had questions. Doubts. Fears. But she kept moving forward. She began running again in her second trimester and carefully trained to maintain her milk supply while preparing for this demanding race.

Throughout the course, her partner met her at 20K, 50K, and 80K checkpoints so she could breastfeed Pepper a logistical challenge that required special permissions and a lot of heart.

Stephanie Case’s story is one of resilience, strength, and rewriting what motherhood and athleticism can look like.

Her next goal? To return to the Hardrock 100 the same race that once felt like the end of a chapter. Now, it marks the beginning of a bold new one.
