Our power yoga practice brings us strength and countless other benefits to our bodies - but one of the best fruits of this practice is celebrating our accomplishments; and even sweeter, celebrating the accomplishments of others.

At some point in the process, we start calling the neighboring students on their yoga mats, great friends -
and we experience the sweetness of feeling pure joy in what they accomplish in this space. 🍊

Q + A with Courtney 🍊

Q: What is your yoga origin story?
A: I used to live in Northern Minnesota. I sought refuge from the cold at a local hot yoga studio. - I practiced almost every day and felt like a fish out of water for my whole first year. (It was totally worth it!)

Q: What are your classes known for?
A: quotes from his 3-2-1 Thursday email.

Q: What is your teaching superpower?
A: An unshakable faith in our capacity for growth.

Q: What advice would you give to new students?
A: My advice to all students is this: Put your attention on what you want to have happen. Speak out loud what you want to have happen. Then, be consistent in your practice. What you’re really doing here is working to understand what does and what does not make you a better person. We’re practicing courage, connection, and growth as a way of being. When you can embrace that, a whole new world will unfold at your feet.

Q: What is your off the mat obsession?
A: My dogs, Biscoe, Kit, and Lu 🧑, audiobooks (currently BrenΓ© Brown’s latest), Marco Polo, Nutella.

"Something surprising about me is..."

Keep reading to find out what it is that is surprising about Barbara! Barbara is an instructor at Grow and she currently teaches our Heated Release class on Wednesday nights at 7 pm.

Q: What is your yoga origin story?
A: I started taking group classes in Oceanside CA in 2001. I went to the studio out of curiosity, not knowing I was walking into a 90 minute 105 degree Bikram class. During the first breathing exercise I felt a profound effect it had on reducing my stress, I loved it.

Q: What is your off the mat obsession?
A: Spending time with my two grandchildren, gardening, and knitting with my friends.

Q: What is your favorite post yoga ritual?
A: Hazelnut Late' for my soul and and Epson salt bath for my muscles.

Q: What advice would you give your younger self?
A: Don't worry so much, everything is going to be ok. Ask for help when you need it, it's not a weakness.

Q: What advice would you give a newcomer to power yoga?
A: Have patience. Progress doesn't happen over night but it does happen!

Q: Tell us something surprising about yourself.
A: I was an active duty Marine for 22 years. 😊

Yoga teachers are just like everybody else :) Follow along this week and we think you'll find that we're all more alike than we are different.

Annalie is an instructor at Grow and here's what she wants you to know:

Q: How did you stumble into yoga?
A: "After a knee injury, I decided to try yoga. I didn't realize I was walking into a hot power yoga class - I truly didn't know what to expect. After my first class, I felt a wave of bliss. I felt light, elevated, and completely alive. I fell in love instantly."

Q: What is the thing your classes are known for?
A: Slow paced core work that really burns and killer playlists! You can count on a disco song or remix making it into the playlist during core work - so fun!

Q: What is your off the mat obsession?
A: Animals. If I weren't teaching yoga, I'd be rescuing dogs.

Q: What is your favorite post yoga ritual?
A: Pre and post yoga, a refreshing shower that centers me before practice and then grounds me for the rest of the day.

These teachers in training are really up to something in the world of accomplishment.

They’re stretching themselves out of comfort zones; where all growth, transformation, and work worth doing exists.

Their bodies and minds are changing in big ways and their limits are burning to the ground.
