Winter Weather Update -
Be aware of the winter storm that may impact North Alabama in the coming days. Please take a few moments to prepare nowβearly planning can make a significant difference if severe weather or power outages occur.
The US National Weather Service Huntsville reports a winter weather system expected to impact northern Alabama and portions of southern middle Tennessee this weekend. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 6:00 PM Friday through 6:00 PM Sunday. Light rain is expected today through Friday morning, followed by a transition to a wintry mix Friday evening through Sunday night. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain are possible, with cold temperatures allowing impacts to linger into next week.
Forecast impacts may include two to three inches of snow or sleet, or over one quarter inch of ice. Roads may be slick, and power outages are possible. Weather information is provided by the US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama

Prepare for the Worst, Hope for the Best
Before the storm arrives, please consider the following:
*Charge devices: phones, battery packs, flashlights
*Use safe lighting: flashlights (get abundant of batteries to last couple days) and candles
*Stock food and water: at least 2β3 days (include no-cook options)
*Stay warm: hats, gloves, blanketsβhomes lose heat quickly
*Fuel vehicles early; gas stations may lose power
*Trim weak branches near your home if time allows
*Seal drafts: use towels at doors, close unused rooms
*Protect pipes: allow faucets to drip, open cabinet doors
*NEVER use grills or generators indoors
