Three years ago, I had a vision: no family should navigate those overwhelming early days of parenthood alone. 💙

What started as one nurse with a heart for supporting new families has grown into something beautiful—a team dedicated to making your transition into parenthood feel less scary and more supported.

From those first sleepless nights to celebrating countless "firsts" alongside families across North Alabama, every moment has reminded me why this work matters so deeply.

But here's what has me most excited...

We're just getting started. Over the next year, we're expanding our services to support families in even more ways.

To every family who has trusted us with their most precious moments: thank you for letting us be part of your story. Here's to many more years of supporting families when they need it most.

Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting announcements coming soon! 🎉

What's one thing you wish you'd had more support with during your newborn days?

In February 2022, I gave birth to my son, my second child. Even though I’d been a mom for over five years (and a stepmom even longer), everything felt new again. The baby wasn’t my first, but I was new. There’s a shift that happens with every baby, a quiet, powerful rebirth of the mother.

At the time, I was working as a mother/baby nurse at Huntsville Hospital. I loved being there in those sacred first nights. But even when I spent one or two nights with a family, it never felt like enough. While I was moving through the motions of my own postpartum, I kept thinking: there has to be more support than this. Families DESERVE more.

There is so much emphasis on planning for birth and the information just stops. We try to give parents all the tools and education we can in the few fleeting days in the hospital, while mom is still recovering physically, adjusting to fragmented sleep, riding a hormonal rollercoaster, and trying to understand how to care for a completely dependent human.

During those early postpartum months with my son, I started dreaming. Planning. Creating. Less than 6 months after he was born, North Alabama Newborn Nurse was officially born, right alongside him.

Our logo is more than just a symbol, it’s a piece of my heart. It’s a hand-drawn outline of one of my favorite newborn photos of my son, taken in the hospital. This business was born with him. It’s a reminder that every baby changes us. Every mother deserves support. And every family deserves someone who truly cares.

Three years later, our mission is the same: to nurture, support, and hold the mother, just as much as we care for the baby. From the very first days at home, we are here, with clinical expertise, calm confidence, and hearts wide open.

Opening your home to someone during the newborn stage can feel… vulnerable. But when that someone is a registered nurse with years of hands-on experience? That’s when everything changes.

At North Alabama Newborn Nurse for You (N.A.N.N.Y.), we’re not just here to rock the baby while you sleep (though we do that too). We’re here to guide you through those overwhelming early days—with clinical knowledge, gentle support, and a deep understanding of what both baby and parents need.

During our Bringing Home Baby class, one question comes up again and again:
“Should we delay cord clamping or bank the cord blood?”

The truth is you can’t fully do both.
Why? Because delayed clamping allows more of baby’s blood to transfer from the cord, while banking requires collecting that same blood for future storage.

🩸 Delayed Cord Clamping gives baby extra iron-rich, oxygenated blood right after birth—supporting their health in the early days.
🏥 Cord Blood Banking stores blood from the umbilical cord for potential future medical use (like stem cell therapy).

Both are valuable. But choosing one depends on your family’s goals, medical history, and birth plan.

We break down choices like this in our in-home class so you can feel informed, prepared, and confident before delivery.

On the first birthday of the last baby girl we welcomed (July 11, 2024), we’re celebrating the arrival of this little lady born last month, our first girl born in nearly a year! We were honored to be there for her first night at home and can’t wait to walk alongside her family in the weeks ahead.
