Yes! National Small Business Week is this week, May 3–9, 2026. It’s recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration to celebrate entrepreneurs, small businesses, direct sellers, creators, and the people who keep communities going.
During National Small Business Week, I think it’s important to remember who many of your real influencers truly are…
Some of the most famous people in the world are now influencing people to buy products simply because they’re famous. Maybe it’s a supplement, hair care product, popcorn, peptides, or the latest little gadget with needles in it. Companies are paying thousands and thousands of dollars for polished professional videos to convince people to buy.
Then there are people like me.
Real people sharing products that gave us real results. We don’t get paid huge upfront contracts. We earn a commission when someone trusts our experience enough to try something for themselves.
Your neighbor selling Farmasi or Mary Kay because she genuinely loves it and it makes her customers feel beautiful.
Your friend selling Pampered Chef because those products truly last forever.
Someone sharing Chalk Couture because they love creating beautiful things and bringing creativity into people’s homes.
Meanwhile, people will buy a cream from a stranger online because a young girl on TikTok says it will firm your thighs in 30 days… and they don’t even know her.
So remember this…
Many of your personal influencers are everyday people trying to pay for dance lessons, little league fees, groceries, vacations, or supplement retirement income after a husband retires. We are moms, wives, friends, grandparents, and hardworking people simply sharing what we personally love and use.
Thank you for supporting small businesses, direct sales, creators, and people like myself. It truly means more than you know. ❤️🌿
