When a parent brought her child to our hospital last year, she met Pediatric Respiratory Therapist Eric Gomez. What could have been a stressful experience became comforting, thanks to Eric’s patience, clear communication, and compassion for both the child and parent. 💛

A year later, that same parent returned, this time with a sibling, and there was Eric again. The parent explained, “While everyone we encountered was fantastic, one employee stood out in making the experience much better than it ever could have been. What may seem like a small, inconsequential exchange has made all the difference in an otherwise scary situation for us.”

For his extraordinary compassion, professionalism, and dedication to his patients, Eric has been recognized with the Sunflower Award, honoring respiratory therapists who provide exceptional, high-quality care to those they serve.

Please join us in congratulating Eric! 🌻

In Labor & Delivery, moments can shift in an instant, but nurses like Michelle Holland bring calm to the chaos. 💛

One new mom shared, “I don’t know how I would’ve made it through without her. I’d be so lucky to have Michelle by my side again.” Another fellow nurse recalled how Michelle’s swift action turned a frightening experience into a peaceful one, saying, “I’ll never forget her. She truly was meant to be my nurse.”

Michelle’s compassion and grace under pressure make her an extraordinary caregiver and a deserving recipient of nursing's highest honor, the DAISY Award.

Join us in celebrating her incredible care for families every day! 🌟

We had a spook-tacular time at our annual trunk-or-treat! Our pediatric hematology and oncology patients and their families enjoyed trick-or-treating, games, a food truck, and of course, lots of candy. Thanks to all who made this event a success! 🎃

Trunks were hosted and decorated by our incredible staff at the Huntsville Hospital Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic, several pediatric floor staff, KidsCare, various medical offices within Huntsville Hospital and the surrounding areas, and other businesses that support our clinic throughout the year. We even had participation from as far as Birmingham with Smile-A-Mile decorating a trunk. Ice Works provided the food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

This amazing event is sponsored by the Dr. Frank Crim Compassion Fund for Children with Cancer. Thank you to all who participated by decorating a trunk, volunteering to help, and donating candy to make this event memorable for years to come.

On Wednesday night, the global Wave of Light event illuminated our Healing Garden with hope and remembrance. 🕯️ Families who have experienced infant loss during pregnancy or postpartum gathered together to honor their little ones through music, a moment of silence, and the lighting of candles.

This meaningful annual memorial reminds grieving parents across North Alabama and around the world that they are never alone. 💗
