Nearly 10 years ago, Stella was born on our Labor & Delivery Unit and diagnosed with CMV (cytomegalovirus), a common virus with potentially devastating effects.

This CMV Awareness Month, Stella and her mom, Lindsay, are shining a light on awareness, testing, and prevention. "She has overcome so many barriers," says Lindsay, who praises her "incredible care team" in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for their lasting impact. "I made some very dear friends – nurses from her care team – that I still talk to. We loved it here. Our care team quickly became family," she says.

Every year, Lindsay visits the hospital with Stella to thank her team. They pay a visit to Dr. Dworsky, who still regularly asks to see her. She also advocates for CMV awareness and testing, and fundraises for CMV research.

Lindsay's advice: Ask your provider to test for CMV if you're growing your family, and be aware of risk factors. Thank you, Lindsay and Stella, for sharing your powerful story! 💜🫶

Behind every extraordinary nurse is a supportive and uplifting care team. Our BEE award recognizes other members of our team for Being-Extraordinary-Everyday!

This year, one BEE award winner surpasses them all. 🐝 Help us congratulate Health Care Assistant Linda Flinchbaugh on our Antepartum Unit with this year's BEE of the Year award!

Linda has been helping us deliver the best patient care for more than 10 years. At least 12 separate nominations praise Linda for "always having a smile on her face"! Here's some more of what her team members had to say:

"Linda goes above and beyond for her patients and coworkers. She is a ray of sunshine and one of the hardest-working people I know. Her dedication extends beyond patient care—she is an extraordinary team player who uplifts those around her with a positive attitude and unwavering support. Linda embodies the spirit of the 'BEE of the Year Award' through her exceptional work ethic, selflessness, and commitment to excellence every single day."

That's a wrap on Make Music Week 2025! 🎶 Our first week-long celebration was a huge hit, complete with performances from our talented HH Health team and community musicians, a musical parade for our pediatric patients, and an instrument petting zoo for curious learners of all ages!

We loved seeing creativity shine during our annual songwriters competition. 🎵 Help us give a round of applause to our talented winners, Crystal Harris, RN, and Maria Caceres, RN, from the Mother Baby Unit at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children. 👏 Their winning piece, "Music Sets Me Free," perfectly captured the spirit of the week! 💜

We hope you enjoyed this week-long celebration as much as we did, with melodies filling our hallways, lobbies, and common spaces. If you had a favorite performance, give the musician a shoutout in the comments below! 👇

Where the sun shines, DAISIES bloom! ☀️💮 In our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), one patient's mother describes Tansy Holland, RN, as the sunshine of the NICU!

We are proud to recognize Tansy with our highest nursing honor, the DAISY Award! 👉💮

"Tansy has made a lasting impact on my life and the life of my family. On the best days and on the worst days, Tansy has remained a safe place. During a journey like this, she is irreplaceable. Through her kindness, patience, and knowledge, I have gained the confidence to care for my son. The NICU team will always be important to our story."

Thank you, Tansy, for taking such great care of our littlest patients—and their families! 🤍
