Dr. Doucette also performs revisional weight loss surgery, which may give patients another chance at achieving their weight loss goals. Additionally, Alabama Surgical Associates performs minimally invasive general surgery procedures. Dr. Doucette has training in advanced laparoscopic surgery which can successfully treat diseases of the colon, spleen, gallbladder, stomach, adrenal glands and management of hernias. Whether it’s a hearty family dinner or a quick weekday lunch, this versatile recipe is sure to become a staple in your kitchen!

Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef or turkey
1 rib of celery, chopped
1 cup of broccoli, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves (minced)
2 – 10 oz cans Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies
1 tbsp oregano
Salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes for taste
6 bell peppers
½-1 cup of low-fat mozzarella shredded cheese
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet, cook ground meat until cooked almost through. Add chopped celery, broccoli, onion, and garlic to skillet – cook until soft. Stir in the diced tomatoes and seasoning – let simmer for 10-15 minutes on medium-high heat. Cut off the tops of the peppers and remove the ribs and seeds. Place bell peppers in baking dish then fill peppers with the stuffing and sprinkle cheese on top. Add a small amount of water in bottom of baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until peppers are soft.

“The gastric sleeve procedure reversed my IBS symptoms and greatly reduced my chronic fatigue and hip/knee pain. I highly recommend Dr. Doucette and his team at Alabama Surgical Associates. They warned me of a few things post op that proved to be true. The first thirty days of liquid dieting is tough, hair loss is normal, acid reflux is possible and be sure to take the suggested supplements. My hair severely thinned, but after a year it began to grow back. Acid reflux was mild and only at night while lying down. Two years later, the reflux is completely gone. My starting weight was 235lbs. I lost 80lbs. over one year and have kept it off. I have more energy and love being a clothing size 6 (starting size was 14/16).

This delicious Fish in Foil recipe will have your mouth watering! Plus, pick your fish of choice and season how you’d enjoy it best. 🐟

Ingredients:
· 3 oz. fish fillet (perch, cod, walleye, tilapia, haddock, or 6 shrimp)
· Juice of one lemon
· Salt
· Pepper
· Smoked Paprika
· Seasoning/herbs of choice
· Vegetables: onion, zucchini, bell pepper, asparagus, green beans, etc.

Instructions:

Place fish of choice in the center of a piece of foil. Add lemon juice, salt, pepper, paprika, seasonings, and vegetables. Place another piece of foil on top and crimp the edges to form a pocket. Then cook on the grill or bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 375 degrees.

The biggest issue for me prior to having weight loss surgery was my self esteem. I did not have medical issues but I did not like myself at all. I wanted to be able to look in the mirror and like myself and I didn’t.

I have thought about it for years. I seriously considered it for about 9 months. I went in for a consultation and left thinking there is no way I can do this. There are too many restrictions and changes. Eventually 9 months later I was still feeling the same way and hated the way I looked so I went back in for another consultation and thought to myself “I can do this”.

Working with you guys has been nothing but a good experience. The staff at the front is very helpful, the dieticians are great, and most of all Dr. Doucette is very reassuring and made me feel very comfortable with my decision.

I love getting dressed to go out now. I do not dread picking out a million different outfits before I find something I was just like “ok this is fine, I don’t feel terrible in it but still not great”. Now I get excited to put clothes on because I just feel good about myself. I also have more energy and I am not so focused on food like I was before. I eat when I am hungry and then thats it. Even the small amount of food is satisfying.
