Hospice Family Care Welcome to Hospice Family Care (HFC), Huntsville and Madison County's only not-for-profit hospice. Nobody could have been more patient and caring than you all.

Hospice Family Care offers supportive in-home or inpatient medical, social, and emotional support for those affected by life-threatening illness, grief and loss. HFC provides care and support for terminally-ill patients and their families. Hospice care is not limited to patients with a cancer diagnosis. Our services are available for anyone with a terminal disease. A recent study reports that hosp

ice care may prolong the lives of some terminally-ill patients. Hospice care is based on the belief that comfort and quality-of-life at the end of a terminal illness are of utmost importance. The study suggests that the hospice method of care may be affecting the length of life for some patients. Testimonials/comments from families, patients, residents –

-“Hospice Family Care, What a family you are! To me it takes a special person to do what they do and they are certainly special”

-“Thank you all for educating us, comforting us, and befriending us. Anthony was truly blessed by your program. Our family will forever be grateful for the support”

-“Thank you so much for all the support you have offered to our family during this difficult time. How can we put words on paper to properly express how much we appreciated each and everyone that helped us care for our beloved husband, Dad, and Big Pa. Your hugs and kind words brought us comfort. Our tears were replaced with smiles. You were there for us through every phone call, every visit and offered help to each person that was caring for our loved one. From the bottom of our hearts we appreciate everything you did to lessen the pain of our loss. You will be forever remembered in our hearts.”

Sometimes our facility dogs are exactly where they need to be at just the right moment. 🐾

During an unplanned visit to our Hospice Inpatient Facility, Vivian hopped into a patient’s bed, offering comfort in a way only she can. It wasn’t until the patient’s daughter heard her name, Vivian, that tears began to flow. Her mother, also named Vivian, had passed 40 years earlier.

In that moment, it felt as if love had come full circle, a quiet sign that her mother and the patient’s beloved wife was still near. 💜

Thank you, .fd, for always bringing love right when it’s needed most. 🐶💛

On Sunday, November 3rd, Hospice Family Care had our first Service of Remembrance since COVID. Losing a loved one is so painful, but coming together to celebrate their lives was meaningful. It was wonderful to see the families we served over the last year, and we thank you for allowing us to be a part of this journey. 💚

Our Story

As Madison County’s oldest and only not-for-profit hospice, we have been caring for the life of our community since 1979 by providing hospice and bereavement care to terminally ill patients – and their families. Until recently, our services were primarily focused on outpatient, home hospice care as well as bereavement care through The Caring House. We began a new chapter in 2017 with the opening of our inpatient hospice facility on the campus of the Redstone Village senior living community. This beautiful building offers general inpatient hospice care as well as respite care to patients who meet those criteria.

It’s a privilege to care for our patients and their loved ones during this time in their lives. Thank you for your continued support in caring for hospice patients.

Hospice Family Care and The Caring House are programs of Caring for Life.
