💜 Making Room for What Matters: Bethany's Experience with Hearts Respite

At UCP Huntsville, we believe that caring for a child with needs shouldn’t mean families have to sacrifice rest, connection, or time together.

That’s where our Hearts Respite Program comes in. 💚
Designed as a voucher reimbursement program, Hearts gives caregivers the chance to rest, recharge, and simply breathe—while easing the financial stress that often comes with hiring help.

Today, we’re honored to share Bethany’s story:
“Using the Hearts program has been great. It has allowed my husband and I to get much-needed time together and lets us spend one-on-one time with our older son.”
“We’re now able to afford to go do things without worrying about the financial stress of costly babysitters.”
“This has been a great program for my family and we are very grateful for it.”

🌟 Mission Monday Post: “Fall Fun for Every Family” 🌟

This week’s Mission Monday is all about connection through community fun! 🍂

Last week was full of excitement for our UCP families — from our Fall Festival 🎃 to a field trip to Tate Farms 🚜 and a Stay & Play visit with the Huntsville Fire Department 🚒!

Each of these events offered children of all abilities a chance to explore, play, and make memories together — while families connected with one another and our amazing staff. These experiences are what community inclusion looks like in action.

At UCP Huntsville, families don’t just participate—they belong. Our UCP families learn, laugh, and grow together beyond labels, beyond limits, and beyond expectations. 💚

🍂🎉 Fall Fun at UCP!

We had an amazing time at our Fall Festival last night—and judging by the smiles, so did our families! 🎃🍁 From animals and goodies to play and crafts, it was a night full of laughter, connection, and community.

💚 These are the moments that make memories—and we’re so grateful to share them with the families we serve.

A special thank-you to the Children’s Trust Fund of Alabama for helping us provide inclusive, joyful events like this one. Your support helps us create spaces where families feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

💜 Mission Monday: Caring for the Caregivers

Behind every person with a disability is a caregiver who gives their all—and we believe they deserve support, too.

Through our Caregiver Education program, Alabama Lifespan Respite offers free online education and support for family caregivers across Alabama. From diagnosis-specific guidance to stress management and self-care, we’re here to walk alongside those who give so much of themselves to others.

Andy once worried about being hung up on or mistaken for a prank caller because of his stutter. “Talking takes a lot of physical and mental energy that I think a lot of people don’t understand,” he shares. But with Speech-to-Speech (STS), that stress is gone.

What is STS?
STS lets users speak directly on any phone, with an operator re-voicing as needed for clarity.

“Since I discovered STS, I make all my own phone calls now. There’s nothing more empowering to me than knowing I can do something for myself.”
