Evaluates clients’ strengths, needs and mental health functioning though biopsychosocial assessments; Provides psychotherapy to clients through the utilization of eclectic and evidenced-based psychological theories; Works collaboratively with individuals, families and groups to set realistic goals and to develop treatment plans; Strengthens clients’ ability to recognize their self-worth and their meaning and purpose in life, in order to, develop a sense of contentment and improve their zest for living; Assists clients with discovering their resilience; Teaches clients new and effective techniques to promote recovery from life’s challenges, setbacks, adversities, grief/loss and trauma; Motivates and encourages clients to build and maintain healthy interpersonal and social relationships; Provides social skills training, stress reduction strategies, anger management techniques, conflict resolution skills and more to individuals and/or groups; Teaches techniques to improve depression, anxiety and other mental and emotional health issues; Provides strategies and coping skills to assist clients with substance abuse, alcoholism and other addictions; Engages, encourages and motivates clients to implement cognitive and behavioral techniques to create and promote a healthy and satisfying lifestyle; Provides referrals to further assist clients’ needs; Advocates for clients and assists them with accessing community and state resources; Peruses a variety of literature and attends workshops for up-to-date client care and license renewal.
