I am a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in Western Massage. To give you a little background about myself, I graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1994. I worked in the business world in both service and retail fields for over 10 years. As many people have experienced, I came to the realization one day that this was not the route I wanted to take f
or the rest of my life as a career. I needed to find a sense of fulfillment in my profession that went beyond a paycheck. While I kept my mind open to options, I received a massage from a friend while she was training in massage school. I immediately not only recognized the great benefits it offered, but it led me to consider pursuing massage therapy in the future as a new career path. I then sat in on a class at the Hudson Valley School of Massage Therapy (HVSMT) and I spoke with an inspirational teacher who helped me to prepare for their New York State accredited Massage Therapy program. I began this challenging program in August of 2005 and I graduated in August of 2007. I became very interested in the coursework involved in the program which was very similar to that offered to Registered Nurses and Physicians while preparing for the medical field. After taking the full program, which trained me in both Eastern and Western modalities, I realized my interests lay in the Orthopedic side of Western Theory, although I do support many of the Eastern beliefs and incorporate some Eastern techniques in my routines. Now practicing on a daily basis, I have come to realize what a great choice I have made and I have developed a strong desire to help others progress toward healing and distance them from daily bouts with pain. I love the idea of contributing to healing and recovery as part of my everyday life; it seems this is the fulfillment I was looking for. Since graduating from HVSMT, I took and passed the New York State Licensing Exam and I am building a great practice. Through my practice as well as though clinic sessions, I have already gained great experience with a variety of different orthopedic issues. I have had the pleasure of working along side experienced, successful practitioners, like Dr. David and Marjorie Howells and Dr. Ford Franklin which has continued to sharpen my skills and build my experience. I have met many great clients that all have unique needs including clients that are in pain and are looking for orthopedic care, are looking to prepare their body / muscles for athletic events, are looking to help their sleep and rest cycles and / or are just coming to relieve some stress and have a nice relaxation session. My hope is that I can have the opportunity to one day meet with you and share with you the amazing benefits of Massage Therapy.
