We do this primarily through our weekly Open Recovery meeting's that use a Positive Peer Approach to help those seeking Recovery find their true meaning and purpose in life. Taking Back Ohio was started by a few close friends in recovery at the Sandusky Artisans Recovery Community Center in 2014 and welcomes anyone and everyone seeking Recovery from Mental Health challenges or substance use disorder as well as any supporters. We welcome those utilizing MAT as a way of achieving Recovery from SUD and all pathways to Recovery. The group chose for the meeting to be like this so that anyone from the outside who had skepticism or fear related to going to a recovery meeting would feel open to try this out! If you are considering living FREE from the bonds of addiction - YOU are welcome here.

Taking Back Ohio and our partners at Healing Trails are at the Cleveland First Responder Mental Health & Wellness Conference Monday & Tuesday.

🤜We’re sharing peer-led recovery resources, equine-assisted wellness options, and pathways to support for first responders and their families.

If you’re attending, stop by our table to say hi, grab materials, and learn how we can partner with your department and community. Grateful to everyone doing the hard work of showing up for mental health. 🫶

Today, Taking Back Ohio and Healing Trails had the privilege of touring Hope United – Tyler’s Redemption Place in Akron, Ohio 💜

We’re incredibly grateful to Shelly and Travis for taking time out of their busy schedules to welcome us, share their insight, and walk us through their beautiful Recovery Community Center — including The Salt Cave at the Cabin!

Their compassion, innovation, and dedication to the recovery community are truly inspiring. We left motivated and encouraged by what’s possible when collaboration and heart come together.

💜 “Honesty got me sober; tolerance keeps me sober.” 💜

Last night’s All-Pathways to Recovery meeting at the Taking Back Ohio Wellness & Recovery Community Center was another meaningful reminder of what recovery and community are all about — honesty, tolerance, and connection.

We also drew the winners of our Dine to Donate raffle 🎉 — congratulations to everyone who entered! We’ll be contacting the winners soon!

From reading reflections on recovery to spending time with the horses at Healing Trails, our Monday nights are about healing in every form — through connection, compassion, and shared growth. 🐴✨

The group chose for the meeting to be like this so that anyone from the outside who had skepticism or fear related to going to a recovery meeting would feel open to try this out! We would love for you to come see us anytime - we are in action at 138 East Market Street in Sandusky, Ohio every Wednesday evening from 5:00pm-6:00pm.
