Fri 7:30pm 207 Adams St, Port Clinton Taking Back Ohio is a grass roots Ohio 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to educate, advocate, and support those who are seeking recovery from Addiction and/or Mental Health Challenges find it and keep it! We do this primarily through our weekly Open Recovery meeting's that use a Positive Peer Approach to help those seeking Recovery find their true meaning and purpose in life. Taking Back Ohio was started by a few close friends in recovery at the Sandusky Artisans Recovery Community Center in 2014 and welcomes anyone and everyone seeking Recovery from Mental Health challenges or substance use disorder as well as any supporters. This meeting is unlike any other recovery meeting that you have ever gone to!
>Taking Back Ohio is not a twelve-step meeting, nor is it faith based. We welcome those utilizing MAT as a way of achieving Recovery from SUD and all pathways to Recovery. The group chose for the meeting to be like this so that anyone from the outside who had skepticism or fear related to going to a recovery meeting would feel open to try this out! If you are considering living FREE from the bonds of addiction - YOU are welcome here.

👊At last night’s Taking Back Ohio meeting, Oak House Port Clinton the women showed OUT — and Kyleigh closed the night with a huge milestone: ONE YEAR clean & sober.

📣 Bubba’s Therapy Update — PAWSitive Progress in Motion! 🐾💙

It was a very snowy drive to yesterday, but Bubba was ready to get back to work! ❄️🚗

First up, we donned our cool therapy “doggles” for some laser treatment to help with healing. Then it was on to the underwater treadmill for the very first time. Now… Bubba is not a fan of getting his feet wet 😂 — but he absolutely CRUSHED IT.

Slow steps. Steady progress. Big courage from a small pittie with a giant heart. 💙

And of course… he finished with his favorite part: kisses for his therapist, Shannon 😘🐶

Thank you all for cheering him on as he works his way back to full PAWSitive Support duty. He feels the love — and so do we. 🐾💙

Bubba was BACK at our Wednesday night All-Pathways meeting — visiting old friends, making a few new ones, and creating a truly PAWSitive experience for everyone 💙🐾

Even while he’s still in recovery, he showed up with that same calm, grounding energy he brings everywhere he goes. The room lit up. Shoulders dropped. Smiles showed up. Hope got a little stronger.

That’s the magic of peer support — and a therapy dog who loves this community as much as we do.💙

Our Story

Taking Back Ohio is an APG (Alternative Peer Group) meeting that was started by a few close friends in recovery. This meeting is unlike any other recovery meeting that you have ever gone to! Taking Back Ohio is not a twelve-step meeting, nor is it faith based. The group chose for the meeting to be like this so that anyone from the outside who had skepticism or fear related to going to a recovery meeting would feel open to try this out! We would love for you to come see us anytime - we are in action at 138 East Market Street in Sandusky, Ohio every Wednesday evening from 5:00pm-6:00pm.
