Helping Kids Feel Safe in Care

At Hutchinson Health, our teams are expanding pediatric comfort strategies to help children feel calmer, more prepared, and supported during their visits.

From medical play kits and distraction tools to staff training and comfort-focused spaces, this work is improving experiences for kids, families, and care teams across clinics, labs, radiology, the ED, and more.

“This work is about dignity, trust, and empowerment,” shared Clinic Manager Liz Anderson. “When kids feel safe and respected, everyone benefits.”

Our team had a great morning at Immanuel Lutheran Preschool learning all about bones! After reading Bones, students discovered fun facts—like that we have 206 bones, where the biggest and smallest bones are found, and how to keep bones healthy by eating well and wearing helmets.

They even got to see real X rays and create their own skeleton crafts!

“The kids were so curious and engaged—it was fun helping them learn how amazing their bones are and how to keep them healthy,” shared Angie, Radiology Supervisor.
