At Southwind Eyecare, our optometry staff works together to ensure your visit is comfortable and completed in a timely manner.

We have a qualified team of professionals that will work around your busy schedule and address any questions or concerns prior to the appointment. Whether it’s a general eye exam or treating a condition that requires an in depth diagnosis, our team provides undivided attention to each patient so we can evaluate a plan based on your needs and our professional opinion. Dr. Hansen and Dr. Whittredge

offer full vision examinations and will diagnose and treat an array of eye diseases and conditions to keep your eyes healthy!

🌟 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Brittany Murrell 🌟

Dr. Murrell is excited to continue serving the Hutchinson community after caring for patients in Wichita and Newton for the last six years.

Born and raised in Ellsworth, Kansas, Dr. Murrell earned her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the Southern College of Optometry in 2020. While in optometry school, she completed externships at Robert J. Dole VAMC in Wichita and at Vision Source Eyecare in Kansas City. She has also served communities in need through mission work in Tennessee and Belize.

Dr. Murrell is passionate about providing comprehensive eye care, fitting contact lenses, and managing ocular disease.

Outside the office, you’ll find her cheering on the Wildcats and spending time with her husband, Dr. Matthew Lorson, their one year old son, Wells, and their mini goldendoodle, Rigby.

🌟 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Matthew Lorson 🌟

Since 2019, Dr. Lorson has proudly served patients right here in Hutchinson, providing comprehensive eye exams, personalized care, and helping families see their very best.

A Hope, Kansas native, Dr. Lorson earned his degree from Kansas State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern College of Optometry.

During school, he served internationally in Belize with Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity and completed externships in Alaska and Kansas, focusing on ocular disease and primary care.

When he’s not seeing patients, he’s spending time with his wife, Dr. Brittany Murrell, and their one-year-old son, Wells.

We’re proud to have Dr. Lorson caring for our community!

🌟Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Ron Hansen 🌟

This year marks Dr. Hansen’s 35th year of practice at Southwind Eyecare! We are proud of his dedication to serving the people of Hutchinson and surrounding areas.

A past Kansas Optometric Association President, Kansas Optometrist of the Year, and Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and currently serving on the board of directors for the Heart of America Eye Care Congress, Dr. Hansen is a true leader in optometry. While we admire his commitment to his profession, we are equally as proud of his involvement in our community.

When he’s not in the exam room, he’s hiking, kayaking, woodworking, or spending time with his wife, Traci, and their three grown children.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Meet Alisa! 🌟

For a total of 16 years, Alisa has been at our front desk after working side by side with the doctors as an ophthalmic technician. She’s the first one to help you with an appointment or question about your insurance, as well as assisting with accounting duties.

In her leisure time, she can be found at the lake with her husband and two sons or cheering on K-State! Go State!
