Let’s jump right into the 4 Do’s of cross training for exercise enthusiasts ~ that’s anyone who moves their body consistently!

1. DO WEIGHT TRAIN: whether you’re a runner, swimmer, biker, walker, etc, strength training will help you get more efficient. 👍

2. DO AVOID INJURIES: athletes who cross train reduce injuries up to 50%. 😳

3. DO HAVE A SCHEDULE: remember to recover between your hard sessions….mix in recovery days!
For example, I do my long runs on Fridays and after my run I will do a leg workout on tired legs. Saturdays I take a recovery walk with friends after 25 to 30 minutes of yoga or Pilates. 🙏

4. DO HAVE FUN: make cross training fun! There are so many different options to enhance your running or whatever it is you like to do! If you don’t like yoga, try a low impact cardio class, or if you love to dance…go for it. 💃

Women who lift - statistically live longer…

But also…
✌🏼Squats aren’t just for killer legs—they help me scoop up grandkids (or rare garage sale finds) without calling for backup.

✌🏼Pressing prepares me to push open stuck doors during my golden years or even put heavy dishes back in the cupboard.

✌🏼Deadlifts keep me agile so I can pick up dropped keys or heavy bags of dog food without wincing 10 years from now.

Keep lifting, ladies! You don’t HAVE to lift a sofa 🛋️ I just find it’s the best way to vacuum thoroughly 🤣

Don’t drink just water and and up in the hospital like I did…👇🏻

Hydration isn’t just about water! 💧

Let’s talk electrolytes.

At night, we lose fluids and electrolytes, so this is why I have all my clients and encourage you to drink water before coffee or tea!

But remember, electrolytes are essential too. I ended up in the hospital with hyponatremia because I ignored them. Now, I prioritize electrolytes every day and make it my mission to share how important that are for your health!

Electrolytes are crucial for fluid balance, nerve function, and muscle health, especially as you age.

Think of them as your body’s spark plugs, keeping everything running smoothly. Without enough, even drinking lots of water won’t be enough.

Potassium, sodium, magnesium, and calcium all play key roles in keeping you healthy. So, add electrolytes to your hydration routine. Your body will thank you!

The secret to aging well?

Challenge yourself ~ The best way to do that is to try something new!

For my 62nd birthday I decided to
* run for 62 minutes,
* do 62 burpees without stopping
* do a cool down walk/jog home
* finish with a 62 second plank

It’s the first time I’ve completed 62 burpees without stopping after running 62 minutes.
Damn that was hard…

But here’s the real scoop: Trying something new keeps you young.
