Multiple agencies. One team. Stronger together.
Recently, our crews had the opportunity to participate in a long lost opportunity (RIP HCC Field Ops) with WSU Tech EMS Education, participating in their Field Ops! Throughout the day, students are guided through a myriad of calls and situations, giving them a glimpse into the real life situations you can find yourself in within the EMS field.
In total, 31 EMS calls were run. 26 EMS students and crews from Minneapolis EMS, Butler County EMS, Reno County EMS, Sedgwick County EMS, EagleMed, and Mulvane EMS worked together to run calls as if they were real (everything but the blood, of course).
The training also included collaboration with Sedgwick County Fire, Wichita Fire, and students from fire, nursing, and law enforcement programs—creating a true multi-agency, real-world training environment.
The day wrapped up with a mass casualty incident (MCI) drill, highlighting the importance of coordination, communication, and leadership in high-stress situations. Opportunities like this are invaluable—not only for students preparing to enter the field, but also for providers strengthening their skills and mentorship roles.
We’re grateful to be part of training the next generation of EMS professionals and strongly encourage other departments to take part in future events!
