Tomorrow night is National Night out! Woodstone is participating--please note a correction to our address. It will be taking place at Woodstone Senior Living at 1025 Dale Street SW.
Are you celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5? Here's a list of what's happening.
Hutchinson joins with more than 100 Minnesota communities to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
While it feels like a local event, National Night Out is celebrated in thousands of cities and towns, large and small, in all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide.
This one-day happening, which brings millions of people together, was launched in the 1980s as a nationwide effort centered around public safety.
Sticking with those origins, Hutchinson Police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other first responders will visit local parties to explain their work and their vehicles’ life-saving equipment.
NOTE: While many of the Hutchinson gatherings are for neighbors only, there are four that welcome everyone: Elks Lodge at Elks Park, Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstone Active Living and 444 Larson St. SW.
This list of local National Night Out events was assembled by Hutchinson Connects, a grassroots group under the leadership of Mary Henke, that promotes local activities such as Little Libraries, National Night Out and One Book, One Community.
“National Night Out is a great way for neighbors to connect with each other and with our police officers, firefighters and first responders in a positive, casual way,” Henke said. “We can learn so much from them about creating a safe community and supporting our neighbors. I’ve lived here all my life and I still meet new neighbors and learn safety tips at every party.”
