For physicians by physicians Burnout in medicine is a system problem, not an individual problem.

In September 2020, a group of concerned physicians from the CCH Bylaws committee came together to talk about physician quality of life. It was at that meeting that our medical staff well-being committee was born. We were (and still are) deeply concerned with the levels of burnout throughout medicine and the unhappiness and dissatisfaction of our fellow medical staff members. We are looking for ways to connect with others and improve their experience. When many physicians hear the term wellness or well-being, they think we are going to be promoting meditation, yoga, healthy eating, and exercise. While resilience and self-care are an important part of personal wellness, it is not what we focus on. Lack of resilience in physicians is not what is leading to the burnout crisis in healthcare. In fact, Physicians and other healthcare providers have higher levels of resilience than individuals in other fields. We want to improve the work environment, to increase professional and personal satisfaction, with the ultimate goals of improving efficiency and patient care. We want our medical staff to be a highly functional team who can depend on each other and who care for one another. We have representation from CCH, FH, and MACC and are always looking for new members and new ideas on how to improve well-being.
