Highly recommend!
A favorite teacher of mine from NYC, Dr Elliot Zeisel, a master therapist of Modern Group work, has a beautiful new feature film coming out which will be screened by the Austin Group Psychotherapy Association in an innovative format on Saturday November 1.
This is an absolutely unique opportunity that won't come again. And I will be facilitating one of the "small group experiences" after the film and after lunch.

(Note: this is a newly released, feature length successor to the acclaimed 2020 web series “Group,” which some of you may have seen).

Reel Connection, Real Resistance: A Film-Based Group Leadership Learning Lab
Saturday, November 1, 2025
8:30am - 6:00pm
St. Edward’s University, Austin, TX
Life begins, for most of us, in a group–the family. From there, we move through classrooms, workplaces, and communities, each shaping how we connect, collaborate, and find meaning. Our experiences in groups profoundly influence how we navigate the world.
Join us for a fully in-person learning experience led by Dr. Elliot Zeisel and colleagues (including me). The day includes a film screening, panel discussion, and small process group experience, focused on learning to lead and participate in groups with greater presence, connection, and emotional depth.
Morning 8:30am-1:00pm
Live screening of the film Group: The Schopenhauer Project. This new, feature-length film features Zeisel and is the successor to the 2020 YouTube web series Group. The film portrays a therapy group with Zeisel as the group leader and actors improvising here-and-now interactions while in character, wrestling with the unpredictable challenges of human connection.
Panel discussion on the theory and practice of Modern Group Leadership in connection to the film.
Lunch on your own 1:00pm-2:45pm
Afternoon 2:45-6:00pm
Every participant will join a small process group to explore the possibilities and complexities of group life in real time. Process groups will be facilitated by the six panelists and a cadre of leaders trained in the Modern Group approach — Ramona Aarsvold, Tammy Brown, Jeanne Bunker, Jeff Hudson, Kelly Inselmann, Gerry Lowe, Ross Miller, Jan Morris, Jordan Price, Andrea Pully, DeLinda Spain, Ryan Spencer, and Danielle Witchel.
We will conclude the day with a dialogue among all the attendees, integrating insights from the film and the process groups.
Who Should Attend
This event is open to the wider community—inviting anyone interested to learn more about human connection and group collaboration.
Registration closes October 29th.
