Pies with a Purpose!🧡Just before Thanksgiving, the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary – Orleans Branch filled the Mugar Lobby with homemade goodness to help support Cape Cod Hospital.

Tables were lined with freshly baked pies, cranberry swirl coffee cake, pumpkin bread, mini apple pies, chocolate-frosted cakes and countless other delicious creations — all lovingly prepared by Auxiliary volunteers and friends, with additional treats generously donated by local businesses.

“We’ve been doing this for several years,” says auxiliary volunteer Kathy Sullivan. “It’s a tradition people look forward to, and it’s all for a great cause.”

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this sweet community effort!

If you smoke, quitting may be one of the most important decisions you ever make to reduce your risk of lung cancer. If you don’t, staying smoke-free and avoiding secondhand smoke is just as critical.

The CDC estimates that cigarette smoking causes up to 90% of lung cancer deaths — but prevention starts with awareness.

— A peaceful view from room 432 🚢🌅

A fourth-floor patient room inside the Barbey Pavilion at Cape Cod Hospital overlooks Lewis Bay — and soon will be part of an expanded space designed to enhance care for the community.

As the upper floors prepare to open next month, the third floor will become home to a dedicated cardiac care unit, supporting patients recovering from heart-related procedures. The fourth floor, shown here, will expand access to medical and surgical care, helping us better meet the growing needs of the community. All patient rooms on the floors are private, promoting a quiet and healing care environment.

We're proud to help commemorate the official launch of Compassionate Connections, a new program spearheaded by Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J Galibois and team to strengthen the community's response to substance use and behavioral health crises. By creating a coordinated resource hub that connects individuals to timely care and support, this regional initiative bridges the gap between those who need critical assistance and the systems designed to help them. It was an honor to be joined by collaborative partners from local police and fire departments, social services and the DA's office at the Hyannis Fire Department for yesterday's ceremony.

Cape Cod Healthcare President and CEO Mike Lauf presented DA Galibois with CCHC's pledge of a $1 million to fund this effort over the next four years, which includes an initial step of implementing a Critical Incidence Management System (CIMS), an innovative tool supported by police departments from all 15 towns on the Cape. In his remarks, Mike Lauf stated, "It is an honor to share the vision with DA Galibois, our law and safety enforcement leaders and social service agencies here today of a brighter future for those in our community who are struggling with substance use and behavioral health. This partnership is a great example of what could and should happen for the greater good of our community."
