William, an 82-year-old former Navy SEAL diver, was admitted to the Pavilion for rehabilitation after a slip and fall on the ice left him with a painful right hip hematoma and shoulder injury. He had been at the lake preparing for a winter dive when the accident happened. Despite staying active at home with daily weight training and cardio, he arrived needing assistance with mobility and daily activities due to pain and limited range of motion in his right arm and leg.
Through a comprehensive physical and occupational therapy program — including targeted diathermy treatments to reduce inflammation and pain — William made remarkable progress. Motivated to return to his home training routine, he worked diligently with his therapy team. Before long, he was back on his feet, completing daily tasks independently and pain-free.
“When I first arrived at the Pavilion, I couldn’t walk or move my right shoulder. I was determined to recover and go home stronger. Physical and occupational therapy were the keys to my fast recovery. The therapists are knowledgeable and caring professionals. Suzie’s expertise and cheerful personality gave me confidence every day. Sam was understanding, motivating, and helped improve both my walking and my confidence. If I ever need rehab again, I would definitely return. The staff in every department are wonderful and polite, the food is great, and the nurses are friendly, caring, and professional. Big thumbs up to the Pavilion.”
