John’s Rehab Success Story 💪

After a hospital stay for influenza and pneumonia, John arrived at the Pavilion needing assistance with daily activities and mobility. Through our Breathewell Pulmonary Program and Graceful Motion Program for Parkinson’s Disease, he worked closely with our therapy team to rebuild his strength, balance, and independence.

With dedication and the support of his therapists, John successfully regained the ability to complete his daily tasks and walk safely with a walker. His hard work paid off, and he proudly returned home with new strategies to stay independent.

In John’s words: “My rehab stay was a success because of the amazing teamwork of my therapists. They gave me confidence, encouragement, and made therapy enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the Pavilion to anyone who needs rehab.”

William, an 82-year-old former Navy SEAL diver, was admitted to the Pavilion for rehabilitation after a slip and fall on the ice left him with a painful right hip hematoma and shoulder injury. He had been at the lake preparing for a winter dive when the accident happened. Despite staying active at home with daily weight training and cardio, he arrived needing assistance with mobility and daily activities due to pain and limited range of motion in his right arm and leg.

Through a comprehensive physical and occupational therapy program — including targeted diathermy treatments to reduce inflammation and pain — William made remarkable progress. Motivated to return to his home training routine, he worked diligently with his therapy team. Before long, he was back on his feet, completing daily tasks independently and pain-free.

“When I first arrived at the Pavilion, I couldn’t walk or move my right shoulder. I was determined to recover and go home stronger. Physical and occupational therapy were the keys to my fast recovery. The therapists are knowledgeable and caring professionals. Suzie’s expertise and cheerful personality gave me confidence every day. Sam was understanding, motivating, and helped improve both my walking and my confidence. If I ever need rehab again, I would definitely return. The staff in every department are wonderful and polite, the food is great, and the nurses are friendly, caring, and professional. Big thumbs up to the Pavilion.”

🌟 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH – JANUARY 2025 🌟

Please join us in celebrating Sam, our Employee of the Month! 👏

Sam joined the Pavilion Rehab Team in September as a full-time Physical Therapist, after completing a student clinical affiliation with us in Summer 2024 and earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Since day one, Sam has been a fantastic addition to the department—earning consistent positive feedback from both residents and staff. She jumped right in by co-leading our boxing group, assisting with the fall-prevention group, and bringing great energy, fresh ideas, and a strong team spirit to Pavilion Rehab.

Congratulations, Sam—and thank you for all you do! 💙💪
