My practice does not need to be loud to be powerful.

Real practice isn’t always visible.
It’s the breath, the return, the quiet discipline.

This is Abhyasa — steady effort over time — from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Roots grow quietly.
Still, they hold everything.

What does quiet practice look like for you right now? 🌿

Philosophy Friday | Smṛti

The body remembers love.

Not only the struggle.
Not only the resilience.
But the hands that held us. The songs that steadied us. The laughter that carried us through.

Smṛti reminds us that remembering is not always about what hurt. It is also about what healed. What warmed. What welcomed.

As we close this month of Embodying Legacy Through Movement, may we continue practicing the remembrance of care — in our breath, in our posture, in the way we show up for one another.

Love is not abstract.
It lives in the body.

✨ Where do you feel love resting in you today?

🕯 Harriet’s Light — A Guided Meditation

Inspired by the courage and spiritual clarity of Harriet Tubman, this offering invites us to turn inward and listen for the quiet guidance within.

Harriet did not move blindly. She trusted an inner knowing — a light that led her through darkness and toward freedom.

This meditation is an invitation to reconnect with that same inner compass.

In stillness, we practice remembering.
In breath, we steady the nervous system.
In quiet, we strengthen courage.

As part of our Embodying Legacy Through Movement series, this practice honors the truth that liberation is not only external work — it is also inner alignment.

Donation-based. All are welcome.

✨ What might shift if you trusted the light within you?

The body has always been sacred.

Long before studio walls and wellness language, our bodies gathered in praise, marched in protest, danced in defiance, and held one another upright when systems tried to bend us.

Movement has never been neutral.
It has been survival.
It has been testimony.
It has been prayer.

When we say Embodying Legacy Through Movement, we are not only speaking of lineage — we are speaking of power. Of remembering that the body is a site of spirit and struggle. Of honoring what has been carried, and choosing how we move forward.

Sweat can be ceremony.
Joy can be resistance.
Breath can steady the work.

02/24/2026

Electric Body was inspired by Revelations and the legacy of Alvin Ailey.

We moved through weight.
We rose with intention.
We remembered what lives in the body.

Legacy isn’t behind us.
It moves through us. ⚡

This Friday we close the series with Harriet’s Light — a guided meditation workshop honoring courage and inner freedom.

Come complete the journey with us.

“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” — bell hooks

Healing has always been communal work.

Our movements were not built by individuals striving alone, but by people gathering — organizing, breathing, planning, holding one another steady when the world felt unstable.

To regulate together is resistance.
To witness one another’s truth is liberation work.

As we practice embodying legacy through movement, we remember that healing strengthens our capacity to struggle well. It clarifies our vision. It sustains the work.

We do not heal to withdraw from the world.
We heal so we can transform it — together.

Philosophy Friday | Smṛti

Without community, there is no liberation.

Smṛti reminds us that memory is not only personal — it is shared. We remember who we are in the presence of others. In circles. In breath. In being witnessed.

Community steadies the nervous system.
It mirrors back our strength when we forget.
It holds the stories that shaped us — and the vision that carries us forward.

To gather is to remember.
To be seen is to return to ourselves.

✨ How does community help you remember who you are?
