Happy birthday Tom! Mother Nature sure delivered for your big day, and we wish you all the best for the upcoming ski season! Tom Hall is Lead Adaptive ski instructor at Stowe, and a very important person in the world of adaptive sports, especially skiing. Tom has been teaching at Stowe for nine years and has been a GMAS board member for eight years. We ask that you support GMAS and Tom by making a donation to our CommUNITY Challenge fundraiser if you can. Our instructors are crucial to how successful our adaptive programs are, and we are dedicated to funding annual instructor trainings so that we can maintain quality across the board. Read more about Tom in our new blog - it’s so fun, and thanks for helping support our mission!

And that’s a wrap! Our first ever Adaptive Skateboard collaboration with Talent Skatepark. 5 athletes, 5 sessions, and 10+ skoaches/volunteers. So much progress in just a few weeks. Aidan could be heard repeating: “I can do hard things.” Aven learned that safe falling means some big learning is going on. Jordyn is learning to use her great navigating skills to move safely around others. Alex is getting comfortable on ramps. And another friend is teaching all the adults how to safely adapt skateboarding rigs to care for their body while a wide smile tells everyone how much they love the movement. All agreed that it was a very successful first go. Next up: building a rolling frame to give access to our athletes who need more bodily support. Stay tuned for details about our next session, likely to launch in January!

We were so close to reaching our goal this year at the Heady Trotter at the Alchemist, and that’s something to CELEBRATE! We raised $18,177 out of our $20K goal, and even though we just missed the full match, your contributions added up to something truly POWERFUL. The outpouring of generosity from our community shows just how much we can accomplish together. Thank you for standing with us and helping drive this important work forward. It’s never too late to add a little donation if you can… We wish to thank all of the volunteers, The Alchemist, Heady Trotter Four Miler, Vermont Farmstead Cheese Co. who donated 100% of the proceeds from the sale of grilled cheese sandwiches, everyone who participated, cheered, and donated, and of course, our friends at The Vermont Community Foundation. We are grateful and happy, and can’t wait to be part of this amazing event again next year!

The Heady Trotter at the Alchemist is this Sunday, Oct 19 and we need your help to unlock a $20,000 matching grant from The Vermont Community Foundation! The funds raised at last year’s event helped us expand our Adaptive Ski and Ride program which will be offered at Smugglers’ Notch AND Stowe this winter! We have big plans for 2026 and hope to once again get enough financial support from our community to get this important donor match. Help us provide Vermonters living with disabilities with greater access to a variety of sports in our community. If you can, please donate for this amazing campaign and help us get the match from the generous donors at VCF!

The GMAS Ski and Ride Program is now offered at both Stowe Mountain Resort and Smugglers’ Notch Resort, thanks to a matching grant from VCF.
