We love representing at the Race to the Top of Vermont every year and this year did not disappoint! A dozen adaptive athletes reached the summit and truly, there is no feeling like it! Enjoy the recap and interview with Austin Hunt.

Smiles for miles! What a great time we had at the Stowe aMTB Weekend! 24 adaptive riders participated in our two-day event held in collaborations with our friends at New England Disabled Sports and Adaptive Sports Partners, and our partner the Kelly Brush Foundation. Cady Hill trails were awesome (thanks Stowe Trails Partnership!) and the Delta Dental Race to the Top of Vermont was so much fun! We are all still numb from the shared energy, the rush of adrenaline, the incredible feeling of accomplishing all this together, and the amazing post event buzz. So many moments created together, thanks to ALL involved! Enjoy the amazing photos from Jeb Wallace Brodeur.

As usual, the list of thank yous is a mile LONG, and we are SO appreciative for the support we are receiving from our commUNITY! Sit tight for more posts to come!

Many very special thanks to all the volunteers, to Cynthia and Carrie of GMAS, our partners Geoff and Shea from New England Disabled Sport, Sue and Cliff from Adaptive Sports Partners, Elle our bike mechanic extraordinaire, and of course the KBF for the financial support. It was also great to have Heather from Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation, Dana from Move United Sport, Kim and Cheryl our VMBA Ambassadors, Jeff, Kelsie, and Jon from Stowe Trail Partnership and all the riders from other great programs.

Collaboration goes a long way, and nothing makes us happier than to be able to include as many people and programs as possible into the GMAS events.

These photos are from Jeb Wallace Brodeur. And there are plenty more to come!

3 days until 20 adaptive athletes get to ride on the beautiful trails at Cady Hill in Stowe, VTl! Thanks to the hard work of Stowe Trails Partnership and their volunteers, the trails are more accessible every year! We can’t wait to all be together for a few fast laps down FLOW, and wish to thank our friends at Pinnacle Ski and Sports & Inner Bootworks, MountainOps, and Ranch Camp who are all lending free e-bikes for our volunteers to use. Thank you all, and our partners the Kelly Brush Foundation, New England Disabled Sports, Adaptive Sports Partners, and Stowe Trails Partnership, we just can’t wait to hit the dirt. Please come for a spin with us, and say hi if you see our group. Photos to come...

The next GMAS sponsored Rock Climbing clinic at Petra Cliffs Climbing Center & Mountaineering School is on Saturday, August 10. This is a great opportunity to try the sport, or to get together with other adaptive athletes to share some fun times on the indoor rock climbing wall. If you wish to get involved as a volunteer, this is a good time to practice adaptive climbing skillsets and converse about disability etiquette. Call Petra Cliff directly to sign up, there are a couple of spots still open.

We had a great start to the kayaking season this week with 22 paddlers enjoying the sunny, calm waters of the Waterbury Reservoir. There were lots of familiar faces, and some new ones too, everyone falling into step nicely, experimenting with the equipment, and for some, upgrading to a straight paddle! This program relies 100% on volunteers, thank you all for showing up with so much love, care and energy! We are excited for the rest of the season. The kayaking program is presently full, but you are welcome to get on the waitlist by contacting us at kayak@greenmtnadaptive.org.

Thanks to everyone who came to the GMAS Family Cookout! We had athletes and coaches from each of our programs and it was so fun to make connections, and to meet new and more seasoned athletes from our programs. A huge thanks to all the volunteers who made this gathering possible! We can’t wait to do this again next year!
