Jackie “Jack” James Prater, age 80, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Iberia on April 9, 1945, son of the late Charles and Hazel (Atwell) Prater. On June 26, 1965, at Iberia First Christian Church, Jack was united in marriage to Lois Marie Sloan, who preceded him in death on May 28, 2023.

Jack was no stranger to hard work and began his career working at The Corvette Factory in St. Louis and later for MoDOT for several years. He taught building trades and drove a bus route at Iberia R-V for 22 years before retiring in 2003. He built numerous houses in the community and taught valuable skills that led many students to maintain contact and friendship with him after high school. Jack also owned and operated JJ Prater Excavating.

He cherished spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, creating treasured memories throughout the years. Jack was a faithful and active member of the Iberia First Christian Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Michael) French of Dixon and Lisa (Bruce) Moore of Camdenton; six grandchildren, Emily (Andrew) Trotter, Monte (Whitney) French, T.J. (Jordan) Moore, Cooper (Jordyn) Moore, Cody (Amber) Moore, and Kylee Moore; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Julia, Jolene, Lincoln, Maxwell, Jack, and Wesley Jo; sisters Judy Fritchey, Pam Thornton, and Sandy Hardesty; brother, Ronnie Prater; and a host of beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hazel Prater; stepmother, Scottie Prater; wife, Lois Prater; and two sisters, Joyce Depping and Kathy Blankenship.

Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 20, at Iberia First Christian Church, 205 W. Normal Street, Iberia, Missouri with Monte French and Stan Way officiating. Interment will be held in Bethany Cemetery near Crocker.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at Iberia First Christian Church.

Jean L. Grady, age 75, of Iberia, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at her home. She was born in St. Louis, on March 2, 1950, daughter of the late Eugene and LeeVon (Pyle) Mayberry. On September 7, 2019, in Iberia, Jean was united in marriage to John Walter Grady, who survives at their home.

Jean was a faithful Christian and a member of the Iberia Community Club. She took great pride in being Nana to her grandchildren who were her greatest joys in life. Jean always looked forward to family get-togethers and holidays, cherishing the time spent with loved ones and creating lasting memories. Her kind heart and loving spirit made these occasions truly special for everyone who attended, especially during her created holiday “Huntgiving”.

In addition to her husband, John Grady, she is also survived by her children, Christopher (Carrie) Slama of High Ridge, Angela Marie (Patrick) Rogers of Columbia, and Angela Marie (Charles) Dailey of Granite City, Illinois; grandchildren, Alexandria Rogers, Jordan Rogers, Clarice Slama, Zachary (Abbie) Dailey, Cody Dailey, and Grant Dailey; two great-grandchildren, Rose Dailey and Ginnie Dailey; brother and sisters-in-law, Ida (Dennis) Morris, Billy (Victoria) Grady, and Steven (Denise) Grady; mother-in-law, Rose Mary Grady; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with a Memorial Service immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 28, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Denny Morris officiating.

Norma Lea Miller-Campbell, age 89, peacefully entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior at 12:26 a.m. on February 12, 2026, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri, surrounded by her devoted family.
Norma was born on September 2, 1936, to Norman and Cleo Gardner. She built her life on faith, family, and service. On November 23, 1954, she married Rev. James Edward Miller. Together they shared a devoted marriage until his passing on August 13, 1995. On January 15, 1998, she was united in marriage to Rev. Robert Campbell of Potosi, Missouri. They remained faithfully by one another’s side until his passing on September 15, 2007.
Norma’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly survived by her children: Laurie (Thomas) Jackson; Patricia (Larry) Heath of Granite City, Illinois; Mark (Stephanie) Miller of Freeburg, Illinois; and Ernest (Trina) Miller of Iberia, Missouri. She leaves behind a treasured legacy in her grandchildren: LeAnn McKeal, Stephen Jackson, Michael W. Heath, Michaela (Andy) Banister, Alex (Macella) Miller, Elizabeth (Josh) Baker, and James (Yesica) Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren & Aaron McKeal, Blake Jackson, Michael Jr and Justin Heath, Levi & Olivia Banister, Elias & Joah Miller, Jayce Garcia, David & Isabella Miller.
She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Jane Shelton and Donna Morris; her brothers-in-law, Donald Miller and Jack (Alicia) Miller; and her beloved stepchildren, Stephen (Kim) Campbell, Debra Pruett, Edward (Minda) Campbell, John Campbell, Mary (Michael) Pruett, Carol (Ken) Blackwell, Hazel (Gary) Leggans, Michael (Angel) Campbell, Richard Campbell, and Jarvis Medlock, husband of the late Doris Campbell, along with many cherished grandchildren and extended family members on the Campbell side.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Norman Gardner Jr., Bill Gardner, Nina Shelton, and Eloise Teagel.
Norma was a lifelong member of Bethel Chapel in Granite City, Illinois, where she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher and school bus captain, touching countless young lives with her warmth and dedication. She was also a devoted member of Full Gospel Ministries Tabernacle in Iberia, Missouri.
A homemaker at heart, Norma expressed her love through hospitality. Her kitchen was a gathering place, and she was especially known for her comforting chicken and dumplings and her irresistible chocolate chip cookies. Yet beyond her cooking, Norma will be remembered most as a prayer warrior. Each day she faithfully lifted up family, friends, and countless others in prayer—calling many by name before the Lord. Her faith was unwavering, her spirit gentle, and her love abundant.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Bethel Chapel in Granite City, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Bethel Chapel.
A second visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia, Missouri. Earl Gene Whittle, age 80, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his home. He was born in Iberia on February 11, 1946, son of the late Farris Earl Whittle and Leona Whittle Keeth.

Earl was notorious for his skill in mechanic work and had a true passion for wheeling and dealing with vehicles of all kinds. Friends and family often marveled at his knack for fixing engines and his enthusiasm for cruising in his classic cars. He honorably served in United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and was awarded numerous medals and awards for his courage and valor.

He loved the camaraderie with his “shop gang” at his shop, Whittle's Garage, spending countless hours with his buddies, sharing stories and laughter. He loved his family and always had a large support group comprised of his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Dale Whittle and Phoenix Albertson; daughter, Holli Robinett; grandchildren, Paige Patro and Caleb Robinett; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Baker, Tammy Eidson, and Judy Whittle; and close personal friend, Sharon Brown; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Keeth and her husband Ollie; father, Farris Whittle; brother, Johnny Keeth; sisters, Beverly Hensley and Joyce Whittle.

Earl’s final wishes were to be cremated, and final inurnment will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Jimmy Joe “JJ” Myers, age 79, of Ulman, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his home with his wife and children holding his hands. He was born in Eldon on February 21, 1946, son of the late James and Helen (Apperson) Myers. On December 31, 1975, in Miami, Oklahoma, Jimmy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Peggy Rowland, who survives at their home. Together they shared two children, Dustin J. Myers and Morgan (Myers) Keeth.

In 1977, they built a log home on Highway C in Ulman and there they lived and raised their family for 50 years. Jim graduated from School of the Osage in 1964 and later attended Crowder College for two years before entering the Army where he honorably served in Vietnam from February 1967 to January 1969. After his service in the Army, he went to work for Westinghouse/ABB in Jefferson City, retiring in 2004 after 32 years of dedicated employment as a welder.

Over the years, Jim was involved in many community services including the VFW, Brumley Lions Club, and the Brumley Fire Protection District, holding offices in most of these organizations. Jim and Peggy were faithful members of the Lighthouse Baptist Church form 2004 to present day. He took great pride in lending a helping hand and being active in church, school, and community activities.

In his younger years he loved to ride horses and belonged to the Ulman Saddle Club for years, where he showed horses and even won a State Championship for Barrell Racing with his horse Peanuts. Jimmy was an avid hunter, going on many hunting trips with his father, James, and friends. He enjoyed fishing and having family and friends gather for big fish fry’s. He was full of love for his family, friends, and God

In addition to his wife Peggy Myers, he is also survived by his son, Dustin J. Myers of Ulman; daughter, Morgan L. (Jason) Keeth of Iberia; three grandchildren, Ariel (Ben) Bell, Ashton (Zach) Brown, and Moriah Keeth; three great-grandchildren, Bryn Hammack, Corbin Bell, and Bennett Brown; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a huge host of family and friends. Jim also had a best friend, Doug Spriggs, who was the brother he never had. They spent many days hunting, fishing, and vacationing all over the United States making beautiful memories with their wives, Christii and Peggy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Myers.

Jim’s heart was as big as the outdoors that he loved to spend time in. Always helping someone in need or volunteering to coach his son’s little league team, ride horses with his daughter, or take his granddaughters on a tractor or four-wheeler ride…..he loved it all. He is going to be so missed!

A Celebration of Life will be held on Jimmy’s 80th birthday, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Brumley. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a Celebration of Life immediately following at 12 p.m. with Rev. Eric Shaw officiating. Friends and family are invited for a luncheon following the service.

Doris Jeanette (Plemmons) VanHooser Gaub, age 92, of Crocker, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Brumley on June 14, 1933, daughter of the late Allie and Alma Edith (Keeth) Plemmons. On May 14, 2000, in Iberia, Doris was united in marriage to Donald Gaub, who survives at their home.

Doris had a passion for the outdoors and found great joy tending to her flowers. She cherished quiet moments watching hummingbirds, which brought her peace and happiness. She was a graceful lady, who carried herself with quiet dignity and elegance in every situation. Her kindness and grace served as an example to her family and friends, leaving a legacy of warmth and respect. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Richland.

In addition to her loving husband, Don Gaub, she is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Copenhaver, David East, and Terrie Ware; five great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Allie and Alma Plemmons; husband, Chum VanHooser; daughter, Beverly East; son, Greg VanHooser; grandson, Gregory VanHooser II; and her 12 siblings.

A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, at Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley with Pastor Justin Brodie officiating.

Jeffrey “Jeff” Dale Bear, age 61, of Iberia, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Springhill Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. He was born in Kansas City, on February 17, 1964, son of Quenton Dale and Paula (Hillyard) Bear. On September 22, 2013, in Salem, he was united in marriage to Halona Pierce, who survives at their home.

Jeff was employed in industrial maintenance with various factories throughout his life, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his trade. He was most recently employed at Iberia R-V School. Jeff was an active and devoted member of Iberia First Assembly of God. He cherished the time spent with his family and enjoyed traveling. He was an avid sportsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Joe Bass Team Trail and NBAA Team Trail Fishing Club.

In addition to his loving wife, Halona Bear, he is also survived by his parents, Dale and Paula Bear; sister, Tracy (Mark) Leathers; step-daughter, Brittany (Matt) Moss; three grandchildren, Weston Moss, Chesney Moss, and Scarlett Moss; two nieces, Lorraine (Austin) Shelnutt and Toni Leathers; four great nieces, Kayley Pax, Finley Shelnutt, Piper Shelnutt, and Arwen Shelnutt; great-nephews, Ethan Pax and Quenton Pax; great-great-nieces, Blakely and Brynlee; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Quenton and Mary Bear; maternal grandparents, Lewis and Nadine Hillyard; four uncles, Joe Bear, Ronald Hillyard, Robert Bear, and Thomas Bear; and great-nephew, James Pax.

LaVerne Christine Dubbert, age 94, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, at The Timbers Assisted Living in Holts Summit. She was born on the family farm in St. Elizabeth on July 5, 1931, daughter of the late Joseph Conrad and Clara Catherine (Fennewald) Jurgensmeyer. On November 8, 1949, LaVerne was united in marriage to Victor Adam Wilde, who preceded her in death on April 7, 1974. To this union, 10 children were born. On June 2, 1978, LaVerne married Daniel Bernard Dubbert, who preceded her in death after 35 years of marriage on September 25, 2013.

LaVerne was a faithful lifelong member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and was also active in the St. Ann’s Sodality Society and the St. Elizabeth Quilting Club. LaVerne co-founded St. Elizabeth TV and Appliance, a longstanding business in the community.

She was an avid quilter and a competitive card player. LaVerne was a dedicated St. Louis Cardinals fan who would not miss a game on TV. She loved traveling the country with her husband, Daniel, visiting all 50 states during their 35 years of marriage. Whether visiting new places or gathering for holidays and celebrations, LaVerne cherished the moments with her family creating lasting memories with those she loved.

She is survived by eight children, Charles (Linda) Wilde, Lois (Charles) Bax, Victor (Karen) Wilde, David (Carolyn) Wilde, Michael (Becky) Wilde, Janet (Jim) Lueckenhoff, James (Lisa) Wilde, and Paul (Ann) Wilde; son-in-law, Dale Doerhoff; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Joe Jurgensmeyer, Charles Jurgensmeyer, and Emogene Jurgensmeyer; and a host of beloved family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Wilde; daughter, Ruth Doerhoff; grandson, John Paul Lueckenhoff; and five siblings, Ambrose Jurgensmeyer, Virgil Jurgensmeyer, Robert Jurgensmeyer, Judith Lewis, and Arlene Kalaf.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery. A private family visitation will be held at the Community Center prior to Mass.

In place of a public visitation, friends and family are invited to gather for a meal at the St. Elizabeth Community Center after the graveside service to honor and celebrate LaVerne’s life.

Lawrence Anton Wansing, age 91, of Meta, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home. He was born on the family farm in Meta on June 6, 1934, son of the late William and Rose (Twehaus) Wansing. On June 3, 1961, in Argyle, Lawrence was united in marriage to JoAnn Pauline Wieberg, who survives at their home.

Lawrence served in the United States Army from February 5, 1957, until his honorable discharge on January 31, 1963. He was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, as a Military Policeman. During his training he received an Expert Rifleman’s badge, a Sharpshooters badge on the M1 Carbine and qualified to carry a 45 Cal. Sidearm for Military Police purposes. On the M1 he compiled 212 of a possible 220 points as an expert rifleman. He was a lifelong member of the Westphalia American Legion Post #544.

He served on the board of the St. Thomas Babbtown Mutual Insurance Company for 33 years, serving as President of the board for 17 of those years, before retiring in 2020.

He served for 30 years for The Osage County (R3) board of education at Westphalia, serving five years as President, four years as Vice President, and two years as Treasurer. While on the Fatima school board he had the privilege of presenting the High School diploma to each of his 12 children, which was a record in the State of Missouri.

Lawrence was an active member of the Meta Community. He took on the challenging task of getting a Dollar General store in Meta, which through his persistence he successfully accomplished. He served on many local boards including the MFA, Osage County DHIA, and the COMM-Community Ambulance Board. He was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

In addition to working in the insurance industry, he also operated Green Valley Dairy and Beef Farm, which Lawrence took great pride in. The farm has been in the Wansing family since 1850.

Lawrence was always willing to lend a helping hand and believed in giving his time and talent to the benefit of others.

In addition to his loving wife, JoAnn Wansing, he is also survived by 11 children, Arlene (Patrick) Holtmeyer, Brenda (Bill) Dallmeyer, Alan (Brenda) Wansing, Michael (Patti) Wansing, Janis (Doug) Alley, Wanda (Dean) Holtmeyer, Patti (Kelly) Otto, Cathy (Brian) Backes, Kim Wansing, Sharon (Bruce) Sprenger, and Daniel (Amy) Wansing; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren with one on the way; sister, Betty Voss; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rose Wansing; daughter, Cindy Carmack; and four brothers, John Wansing, Herman Wansing, Clarence Wansing, and Charles Wansing.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Porterfield officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in St. Cecilia Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m., on Tuesday, January 27, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

Sammy Humphrey, age 86, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Iberia on May 24, 1939, son of the late Steve and Jane (Allen) Humphrey.

Sammy was a member of the Iberia First Baptist Church. His gentle heart and kindness touched everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his niece, Sue Irwin, great-niece, Anna (George) Rowden; great-great-nieces, Cristian (Richard) Kite and Kaylee (Chase) Rowden; great-great-great nieces and nephews, Lucas Kite, Gracelyn Kite, Payton Kite, Nathan Kite, and Richie Kite; and a host of family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his five brothers, Edward Humphrey, Cecil Humphrey, Roy Humphrey, Tom Humphrey, and Bobbie “Tab” Humphrey.

Donna Kay Rush, age 62, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Boone Hospital in Columbia. She was born in Tuscumbia on December 15, 1963, daughter of the late LaRue and Rosetta (Gardner) Rush.

Donna began her career as a dedicated teacher and later principal, inspiring countless students with her passion for education. She retired after over 30 years of commitment as an educator.

Donna’s Christian faith guided her throughout her life and brought her comfort and strength during difficult times. She took great pride in her role as “Nana” to Rosie, cherishing every moment spent with her granddaughter and always making sure she felt loved and supported. She was a devoted member of the Eldon Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her mother, Rosetta Rush; daughter, Keisha Jarrett and husband Dawson; cherished granddaughter, Rosie Jarrett; sister, Judy Rush Connell and husband Chris of Eldon; brother, Danny Rush and wife Darlene of Tuscumbia; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, LaRue Rush; aunts and uncles, Robert Rush, Gerald (Ottolene) Rush, Marvin (Margaret) Rush, Judy Rush, and Phyllis Rush; grandparents, Roy (Milda) Rush and Virgil (Cleo) Gardner; and her cousin, Chesney Rush.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, January 7, at the Eldon Church of the Nazarene, 1024 E. Lawson, Avenue, Eldon, Missouri.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, at the Eldon Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jerry Frye officiating. Interment will be held in Livingston Cemetery near Iberia.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Chesney Rush Memorial.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
