We asked our phlebotomists what they like best about their jobโฆ and hereโs what they said:
โI enjoy being a phlebotomist because the role combines technical skill, attention to detail, and patient care. Collecting accurate specimens is essential to patient diagnosis and treatment, and I take that responsibility seriously. I also value the opportunity to interact with patients, help ease their concerns, and contribute positively to their overall healthcare experience.โ
"I enjoy being a phlebotomist because it allows me to combine technical skills that will direct patient care. I take pride in performing my work accurately and efficiently, but what I value most is helping patients feel comfortable and at ease during a procedure that can be stressful for them. Knowing I play a role in their healthcare is very rewarding. Being a phlebotomist gives me a sense of purpose, knowing my work supports diagnosis, treatment, and overall patient well-being, Even small interactions, like calming an anxious patient or successfully drawing blood from someone with difficult veins."
"I have found that being a Phlebotomist is so much more than just drawing blood. It has taught me how to truly be patient and understanding. I've learned that making a difference doesn't always require a grand gesture, and that a single act of kindness, no matter how small, can change the course of someone's day. Sometimes, it's just about offering 10 minutes of undivided attention or sharing a laugh to make a patient feel safe. Iโve met people with stories that changed my own, simply by 'really listening'. This, in turn, has allowed me to grow into a more compassionate person."
