Too many people say “I eat healthy” while still chasing low-calorie, low-fat, low-cholesterol myths—and wondering why energy, labs, and body composition don’t budge. This straight-talk class resets the basics so your day-to-day choices actually move the needle.
We’ll cover the 5 “macros” that matter—ranked by real-world impact:
Water – Hydration as your first macro: how much, how often, and the signs you’re under-fueled.

Protein – Muscle is the organ of longevity. Targets by body weight, best sources, and timing for recovery and fat loss.

Fats – Brain and hormone health 101: which fats to lean into, which to limit, and how to cook without wrecking your oils.

Carbs – The truth about refined carbs, cravings, insulin spikes, and how to use smart carbs without blood sugar whiplash.

Electrolytes & Minerals – The overlooked performance lever that stabilizes energy, focus, and hydration.

You’ll leave with:
A simple daily blueprint (water, protein, fats, carbs) you can start the next morning

Clear protein targets and a 1-page food list

“Label decoder” tips to dodge hidden sugar and seed-oil traps

🔥 Insulin: The Fat Storage Commander 🔥
When insulin is high, your body goes into storage mode — locking fat away where you can’t touch it. 🛑
When insulin is low, your body finally has access to that stored fat and can burn it for energy. ✅
👉 Prioritize foods that keep blood sugar stable.
Because when you control insulin, you control fat loss.

Some mountains humble you. Others teach you what you’re capable of. For me, the Grand Teton does both—every single time.

We started Thursday afternoon at the Lupine Meadows Trailhead and hiked 4.9 miles with ~3,000 ft of gain to the Petzoldt Caves campsite. Packs were heavy, effort was more than I remembered, but anticipation was high.

Day 2 began at 6:30 a.m. From camp we pushed to the Lower Saddle (~6 miles, +1,950 ft), then onto the Upper Exum route—bypassing the friction pitch and leap-frogging with another group. We topped out on the 13,775 ft summit at 4:30 p.m., pausing to watch a search and rescue below. Stats: ~15 miles and nearly 7,000 ft of climbing.

The descent—two rappels included—was slow but uneventful. Navigating from the Lower Saddle to camp by headlamp was tricky, but the full moon lit the way. The sparkles of quartz crystals in the rock blew me away—something you only see if you push to elevation. We stumbled into camp at midnight, ate a little, and crashed.

Day 3: pack up, trek back to Lupine Meadows, reward with a burger, and head home.

This was my 4th (and toughest) Grand Teton summit. Every time, I’m amazed at what my body can do and grateful for the wonder God built into us—the love of creation, adventure, and pushing beyond limits.

Proud of our daughter Ashley—few know how tough she really is. Huge thanks to my neighbor and friend Victor, who shares the same drive to keep climbing as long as our bodies will allow.

Grand Teton Quick Facts:

Elevation: 13,775 ft (highest in the Teton Range)

Elevation gain from trailhead: ~7,500 ft

Round-trip via Upper Exum: ~19 miles

First ascent: 1898

Here’s to challenge, beauty, and the Creator who designed it all. What’s the hard thing holding you back? Go do it.

Successful trip. I’ll update you later.
